Buildcrafting and theorycrafting how to come up with powerful builds that are truly your own can seem daunting in Last Epoch, but it’s actually not that hard.

As long as you have a clear focus or inspiration on what type of character you want to make, creating your own build can feel pretty natural.

To help you with the process, we’re going to give you tips and pointers to help you start making your very own strong builds!

How to Come Up With Your Own Powerful Builds

Decide Your Class and Focus Skill

Last Epoch: How to Come Up With Your Own Powerful Builds - Class Selection

First things first, you have to figure out which one of the 3 classes you want to play, and which one of their Masteries you want.

Every single class and Mastery has a unique playstyle and role. They’re all equally powerful with the right build, so you should just focus on what would be most fun for you!

Once you’ve decided which class you want to play, you should figure out which of their skills you will focus on.

Most builds focus on just working around a set of skills and making the most out of them. Take, for example, the Primalist’s Squirrel Beastmaster build.

The Primalist

This build goes all-in on using the Summon Squirrel skill, paired up with any gear and skills that help boost it.

Ultimately, this unique build allows the Primalist to smite foes with hordes of charming little rodents! Of course, that’s just one example of what’s possible.

In short, figure out what kind of class and playstyle you want to focus on. Then, decide which skills you want to use as the center of your build. It’s your build, so always think about what you find most fun!

If you need some inspiration, it’s always good to look at whatever other media you like. Maybe a superhero or anime character you like can serve as inspiration for your build?

Gear Up!

Once you’ve got the general idea of your class and skills in place, you should start looking for any equipment that suits your build’s style.

For example, a Mage that wants to overwhelm foes with status ailments would want to find the Mad Alchemist’s Ladle as soon as possible!

This is, of course, very open-ended and will depend entirely on what you want to do with your build. Even just figuring out if you want to dual-wield or two-hand weapons can be a key aspect here…

It’s also a good idea to understand things like how damage scaling works at this point. Also, look for any gear that gives levels or effects related to the skills you chose to focus on.

To make things easier, you should also know how to create your own loot filters. This tool will make it a lot easier to find gear that actually fits your build, helping you define it even further.

Check What Others Are Doing

If you’re ever stuck trying to figure out what to do with your build, don’t be afraid to look up what other players are doing with their builds.

Maybe there are some similar builds that can help inspire you? Or maybe there’s a Unique item you didn’t know about that would be a perfect fit for your build?

After all, Last Epoch is a pretty massive game, way more than a single person can realistically figure out on their own! Don’t be afraid to ask others for help and research the game using online resources.

However, if you’re reading this, we’re going to assume you’re already willing to accept external help to make your own builds!

Either way, this concludes our guide on how to create your own powerful builds in Last Epoch.

We know a lot of this advice is very open-ended, but such is the nature of buildcrafting! Nonetheless, we hope we’ve helped give you some pointers on how the general process of making a build works.
