How to Have the Best Start | Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Talk With Bara

As soon as you finish the short prologue section, you’ll end up basically naked in Troskowitz. This is the very start of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, so it’s best to seek out help. Thankfully, there’s a lady named Bara who’s willing to help Henry out of a pinch! She’s the woman dressed fully in red, as you can see above.

Talk with her and exhaust all of her dialogue. She’ll give you pointers on how to get started, such as where to find food and clothing. She’ll also help you find out the whereabouts of Mutt, a helpful dog companion.

Make sure to ask about Tomcat, too, as this will unlock Combat Training I as a quest. This quest will allow you to learn how the game’s combat works, while also teaching Henry some new techniques and combos. It’s a good idea to try to complete this quest as soon as possible!

In summary, ask Bara about every single thing she can help you with. Give priority to the quests she mentions and you’ll have a much easier time with this game. She sure is one helpful lady, right?

Increase Your Carry Capacity

One of the biggest hurdles that might prevent you from having the best start in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is your carry capacity. By default, Henry can’t carry very much, which limits how much looting you can do.

Thankfully, there are a few Perks you can get early by leveling up your Strength. In case you don’t know, you primarily level up the Strength stat by fighting and taking part in combat training. Now, these are the three Perks you want to get as soon as possible:

  • Hard-Working Lad – Halves the weight of sacks and bodies you carry. Also permanently increases your carrying capacity by 8 pounds.
  • Pack Mule – Increases carrying capacity by 12 pounds.
  • Strong as a Bull – Increases carrying capacity by 20 pounds.

This will make it a lot easier for you not miss out on loot. It’s just a fantastic quality of life upgrade, overall!

Speaking of good Perks, it’s a good idea to check out our guide on the best Perks to get in the early game. It goes a lot more in-depth on what Perks to look out for than we do here.

Who Doesn’t Love Honey?

A key mechanic in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is that you need to keep Henry fed so he can perform his best, which can be hard since you have no money at the start. Thankfully, there are a lot of beehives in the southern part of Troskowitz. Interact with them to collect Honey.

How much Honey you get is somewhat random, however. Sometimes you don’t even get any Honey! Nonetheless, there a lot of beehives so you can potentially get a lot of Honey.

The best thing about Honey is that it doesn’t spoil, so you can keep it in your inventory forever. It provides a solid amount of Nourishment to Henry, too. Make sure to grab a handful whenever you can to survive through the early game!

Staying Clean is Important

One of the most unique mechanics in Kingdom Come Deliverance returns for the sequel. As you explore and engage in battles, Henry and his clothes will get dirty. This makes people treat Henry less nicely and it also lowers his Charisma stat.

To counteract this, you can get yourself cleaned up in any body of water. All you need is some Soap, which you can get from Traders in every settlement. Just approach the body of water of your choice, then select the “Wash Yourself” and “Launder Clothes” prompts!

Alternatively, you can go to Bathhouses, like the one in Zhelejov. They are more expensive, but take less time. Plus, you can have the bathmaids accompany Henry, if you wish.

Recover Pebbles

Due to the events early in the story, Henry loses one of his best pals at the start of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2… we’re talking about his trusty steed, Pebbles! To recover Pebbles, you need to go to Semine. This is southwest of Troskowitz, and it’s a fairly long walk. When you’re ready, though, that should be your first destination.

Now, there are multiple ways to recover Pebbles. We’ve already covered a method to get Pebbles for free by stealing from Ballatay. If you wish to use that method, check out its full dedicated guide.

Alternatively, you can also speak with Ballatay and confront him about Pebbles. Ask about who sold it to him and insist that the horse was stolen. If you have a high enough Charisma, you’ll convince him that Pebbles is your horse. He’ll relent and give you the horse for free!

It’s key to try to do this as early as possible, one way or another. Having a horse makes traversal and exploration much easier.

So, there you have it, that’s our tips and tricks to have the best possible start in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. It’s of particular importance that you do the quests Bara gives you at the start of the game. Give priorities to them and you’ll be well off!
