As you make your adventure in the world of Wartales, you will come across locked chests that you won’t be able to open directly. Instead, the only way to open them is via lockpicking.

With lockpicking, you’ll be able to pry open a lot of these chests and obtain their sweet loot instead. However, you can’t just go ahead and interact with the chest using a lockpick either.

There are some complicated mechanics behind it. In this guide, we’ll look exactly at how you can lockpick chests in the game.

Obviously, you will need a lockpick in order to open these locked chests. You will be able to obtain them as drops from certain enemies like ruffians and poachers.

Alternatively, you can just craft them in your workshop using a unit with the Tinkerer profession as long as you have iron ores.

Once you have enough lockpicks, the next course of action is to attempt to open a locked chest. Simply approach a chest and right-click on it to attempt to open it. Doing so will initiate a lockpicking minigame.

Next, assign the Thief profession to one of your units. This will then start the minigame. If you’ve played games like Oblivion and Skyrim before, then this might be familiar to you as the system is almost the same.

All you have to do is rotate your mouse until the lockpick goes deep enough. At the same time, you have to listen to the metallic sound, as it’s an indicator that the lockpick is not in the right position.

Once you notice that the lockpick is deep enough, try clicking your mouse until it goes in and open the pin. Do keep in mind that each lock has three pins that you need to open.

You don’t want to put too much pressure on your lockpicks, as doing so will cause them to break eventually. After opening all three pins, you can then open your newly lockpicked chest.

This might take a little bit of getting used to, but once you’re familiar with the mechanic, it will be a lot easier to open locked chests in your future adventures.
