Volcano Manor is one of the distinctive locations in Elden Ring. At some point, you will need to head to this area to defeat certain demi-gods in the game. You can partake in several side quests available within the Manor. You can investigate them, including a locked door in the main hall.

If this is your first time entering the building, the doors will be closed off. To progress, you will need to find the key first. Fortunately, it is relatively easy to obtain as you only need to talk to a specific NPC inside the Manor. To open the closed doors, follow the steps below.

Getting the Key

There are actually two locked doors in Volcano Manor. One can be opened from the other side, while the other is completely closed off. To open the doors, you will need to do the following:

Speak with Tanith to get the Drawing Room key. Head to the hallway on the left side and enter the first room you’ll encounter on the right. You will need the Swordstone Key later on. There will be an illusionary wall on the right corner of this room.

Head inside and follow the path until you find a Nomadic Warrior’s Cookbook. From there on, turn left and hit the illusionary wall to make it disappear. This room will have the first locked door that was initially closed off.

Continue and head downstairs until you reach the Prison Town Church Site of Grace. Open the church door, turn right, and follow the path again. When you reach the stairs, go down the left side, and you will end up in a room where you can find Erdtree Seal.

The building ahead will be closed off; so, you will need to jump on a roof on the left side to proceed. Once you enter the building, you will reach the Guest Hall Site of Grace.

Open the door to exit the building. You will have to jump on a dark ground between the lava and head to the stairs on the right side. It will take you to an area with a lot of hanging cages. Enter the elevator to reach the top.

Outside the elevator, you’ll find the Somber Smithing Stone [5] on the right. You then need to climb up the stairs to the Temple of Eigley where you will fight the Godskin Noble mini-boss.

Further down the temple is the path to Praetor Rykard, who is a Shardbearer that grants you the Remembrance of the Blasphemous when slain. You can turn it into the Blasphemous Blade which is used in the powerful Blasphemous Herald build.

But before you go that route, you can pick up the Serpent’s Amnion on the Altar, which is a key item for Rya. After that, take the elevator in the same room to reach the top.

Climb up the balcony wall on top of the temple; jump down the stones to make your way through the lava. You will reach a window that you need to climb. Once you enter the building, open the door on the right side and go up the stairs.

Turn right and keep going straight until you reach a room with a staircase. Open the door on the right side of the same room and pick up Man-Serpent Ashes from the altar.

Next to the altar, climb up the stairs and turn around to reach the Stonesword Key door. You will get to an area with hanging cages. Keep jumping down until you reach the bottom floor.

From there on, turn around and go south until you find the Seedbed Curse key item. Turn left and climb up the stairs to collect Somber Smithing Stone [7].

Follow the path and go straight to the room on the north side to get Ash of War: Royal Knight’s Resolve from a corpse. Go through the door on the right side and continue ahead until you reach the door at the end. This is the first door that can be opened on the other side.
