First Person Shooter games have evolved a lot since they first came into existence. The graphics have become more realistic, the overall feel of the game is more immersive and the moves you can pull are a lot more diverse than before.

When Doom first came out, we learned about strafing. Gears of War introduced blind firing as shooting from corners, Counterstrike Brough in the jump duck. All of these moves are centred on how to keep yourself alive as you engage in a gunfight in the game.

All of these (except for CS jump duck) are core moves you can do in modern First Person Shooters. With the latest instalment of COD Modern Warfare 2, they have introduced another move called the Dolphin Dive to add to your list of moves to keep yourself safe in the heat of battle.

In this guide, we will teach you how to pull off the Dolphin Dive in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

How to Dolphin Dive in COD Modern Warfare 2

Dolphin Dive is when you dive in front of yourself and land on your stomach which doesn’t sound pretty impressive when we put it into words. But it looks pretty good when executing it or watching someone else do it to you.

Think of it as Max Payne doing the bullet time without the slowdown. That’s the Dolphin Dive. And to do this is quite simple.

Step 1: Sprint

You need to be sprinting to execute this move. Check your settings and select automatic tactical sprint to make it easier. Doing this will make you tap the sprint button while moving to make you sprint automatically so you won’t have to hold the sprint button every time you want to run.

Step 2: Dive

To dive in COD Modern Warfare 2, you need to hold the crouch button. Doing so while sprinting will let you Dolphin Dive.

Tapping the crouch button while sprinting will let you slide which is also a good way to keep your hitbox tight especially when engaging enemies head-on.

When to use Dolphin Dive

The purpose of Dolphin Dive is to make yourself a small target for enemies shooting at you. With that said, it’s best to use it when you are on Assault.

Sprinting head-on an enemy and then diving to the ground as he aims can mean a lot especially if he is caught by surprise.

It’s an instinct in the game that players will usually set their aim on the chest and neck area which will make them miss if you dive to the ground while firing.

You can also dive while being pursued by the enemy. If your sensitivity is right enough you can do a 180 turn while sprinting and start lining your shots before the enemy can react.
