The Aurvangar Wetlands is one of the first locations you’ll get to explore in your God of War Ragnarok playthrough. This place is filled with geothermal springs, geysers, and more. Here, you can also encounter a water wheel puzzle that will prevent you from progressing unless you solve it.

Let’s find out how you can cross the barrier in the area by solving this puzzle.

As you paddle your way on your boat toward the area, you’ll find that a huge barrier is blocking your way. To gain passage, you need to lower it down first, and you can do this by solving a puzzle. This is actually the second water wheel puzzle in this area. We’re going to talk about the first one in a separate guide.

As usual, your Leviathan Axe will play a huge part in solving this puzzle as it will freeze the geysers in the area. Upon arriving at the dock, just keep moving forward until you come across a geyser.

Simply throw your axe at it to freeze it, thereby granting you passage. Press onward and go left until you find a geyser covered by a water vent. Yank it out using your Blades of Chaos, and then throw your axe to the geyser on the left to freeze it.

This will cause the pressure on the other geyser to go up, causing it to rise as well which then turns the water wheel. Also, a huge block will then go down the platform. Hit the circle target on the chain of the block to cause it to fall.

Climb on top of the block and hit the other geyser to freeze it. It will then cause the block to go upward. Once you reach the second level, turn right, and you should be able to see a chain on a wooden pole. This is the mechanism that you need to activate to lower the barrier.
