There are lots of activities you can do in Dinkum, and one of them is fishing. Similar to other games, the fishing mechanic on Dinkum is fairly straightforward. You just need a fishing rod and go to a nearby body of water to catch some fish.
However, there are a few requirements prior to that. In this guide, I’ll show you what you need and how you can actually start fishing in the game.
How to Fish in Dinkum
Before you can start fishing, you will need a Fishing License first. For this, you need to complete some milestones and collect permit points in the Milestones tab. After that, head over to Fletch to apply for a Fishing License.
Once you have a license, head over to John’s shop and purchase a fishing rod. Then, you want to head over to the river and look for a fish. After finding a fish, select your fishing rod on your hotbar, then hold down the left mouse button to cast it. The longer you hold it down, the farther the line will go.
When a fish starts nibbling on your line, you need to press the left mouse button again to start reeling it in. However, make sure to pay attention to the bar on the right as this is an indicator as to when you should and should not reel in.
You actually want to reel in the fish when it’s not fighting. That’s when the indicator is not showing up. When it does show up, you want to let loose until the fish gets tired, until which you can start reeling in once more.
Make sure that the red bar on the indicator won’t get to zero, otherwise, the fish will get away. After a short while, you should then be able to catch the fish once it gets close enough.
