In The Finals, toxic gas plays a strong defensive role when defending a cash out. There are numerous ways that a character can implement the gas into their gameplay, as well as various class builds that can use them.

In the game there are three ways to access the gas:

• Gas Grenades – Carried by All Builds.
• Gas Mines – Carried by the Medium build.
• Green Gas Canisters – Found lying about the map.

Each of these gas sources cover the same surface area upon exploding and all last for 12 seconds. T

he damaging effect does not stack from firing two sources, so make sure you use it sparingly. They inflict 50 damage per second, so they’re pretty lethal!

A Gas Grenade has to be thrown into the desired area, the Gas Mine has to be placed and walked over or shot from afar, whilst the Green Gas Canisters can only be shot from afar or thrown with telekinesis.

Fighting Against Toxic Gas

The best way to fight against gas is to set it on fire. Any pyro related gadgets you equip can be thrown into the gas to ignite it into a cloud of flames!

This is worth doing only once the gas has already exploded into a cloud. If you find a gas canister leaking but not fully exploded, throwing a pyro grenade will accomplish nothing!

The most effective way to take down toxic gas near a cash out, is to throw your Pyro Grenade into the outer rim of a gas cloud. This means your team will still be able to get close after the gas has dissipated.

The Pyro Grenade can be carried by all build types and is easily thrown from a distance, reducing the likelihood of receiving damage.

Defending With Toxic Gas

The most effective way to defend your cashout is by using Gas as your primary deterrent against enemies. To begin with, you’ll want to drop a gas canister by the cashout, without triggering it!

Your next move is to throw a smoke grenade into where you previously dropped the gas canister. Next fire a single shot at the gas canister to get it to start leaking gas but not explode.

Immediately after this, throw a proper toxic gas grenade into the smoke. This will explode and your enemies will then likely throw a pyro grenade to ignite and dissipate it.

What they won’t realise is your gas canister will then also explode, meaning there is a constant state of gas around your cashout. If timed correctly, you should then have 3 seconds after the gas clears to throw another gas grenade!

Now then, that’s about everything you’ll need to know when working with Toxic Gas. It’s a pretty versatile tool that when used strategically can defend your cashout and inflict some serious damage!
