ARK: Survival Ascended continues to evolve with new creatures, balance patches, and a constantly changing meta in both PvP and PvE.

While raw damage still matters a lot, most of the dinos in the game’s current version are judged on other factors as well. These include their burst potential, survivability, mobility, bleed effect, and even utility.

Of course, some dinos are intended for boss fights, while others specialize in PvP encounters. And with newer additions and multiple balancing, the ranks regarding which dinos have the highest DPS can change every now and then.

That said, here are the top 8 dinos in the current meta as far as DPS goes:

8. Allosaurus

The Allosaurus has been a strong damage dealer back in ARK: Survival Evolved. However, it remains one of the most underrated damage dealers in Ascended. Thanks to its pack bonus and bleed effect, it can shred enemies with massive health pools surprisingly quickly.

While it’s no longer considered top-tier compared to newer apex creatures, a well-coordinated Allosaurus pack can still overwhelm stronger dinos through sustained damage and mobility.

They are especially effective during mid-game progression and smaller tribe PvP fights.

7. Spinosaurus

Spinosaurus ARC Survival Ascended

A personal favorite, the Spino is still considered one of the best hybrid combat dinos in the game. As long as water is nearby, it will gain a hydration buff which dramatically boosts its movement speed, attack speed, and overall DPS output.

Lots of players still prefer Spinos for aggressive farming runs and cave diving since they combine strong damage with excellent mobility.

In maps with lots of rivers and bodies of water, a properly bred Spino can outperform most heavier carnivores. Thanks to its flexibility, the Spino remains relevant even in the current meta.

6. Therizinosaurus

Therizinosaurus ARC Survival Ascended

The Therizino is still one of the safest and most reliable high-DPS creatures in the current meta.

It boasts of fast attack speed, excellent survivability, and the ability to heal using Sweet Vegetable Cakes, making it one of the strongest PvE dinos available.

Therizinos continue to dominate many boss encounters as they can maintain high sustained damage while surviving far longer than glass-cannon alternatives.

Even after multiple balance changes, most endgame tribes still rely on Therizino breeding for taking on difficult bosses.

5. Giganotosaurus

With the addition of newer apex creatures, the Giga has lost its crown as the uncontested king of ARK. Despite that, its raw destructive power is still terrifying.

It has massive damage output and bleed, which makes it one of the deadliest creatures for large-scale PvP and open-world combat. In fact, even a poorly bred Giga is strong enough to wipe enemy tames and pressure defensive positions with ease.

However, newer creatures with better mobility and utility have slightly reduced the Giga’s dominance compared to older metas. Despite that, it remains one of the strongest pure damage creatures in the game.

4. Carchadontosaurus

The Carchar has become one of the most dangerous creatures in Ascended when it comes to dealing sustained DPS.

Unlike the Giga, it becomes stronger during extended fights thanks to its Bloodrage mechanic. Once fully stacked, its damage potential becomes so absurd that it can easily overwhelm almost any target in prolonged combat situations.

Without stacks, it does 42 damage which isn’t much but with max stacks, it does more damage than the highest damage dealing dinosaur in the game. This specialty, along with how easy it is to tame, makes it a must-have for anyone wanting a good dino.

If you position yourself correctly, the wide range of the attack can help you take down multiple enemies at once. Its speed also makes it more flexible than many traditional apex predators. In the hands of an experienced player, the Carchar can completely dominate both PvP and PvE encounters with ease.

3. Shadowmane

Shadowmane ARC Survival Ascended

The Shadowmane remains one of the strongest all-around combat creatures in Ascended.

Its combination of stealth, mobility, stun utility, and extremely fast attacks makes it incredibly difficult to counter. It’s also capable of rapidly bursting down targets while remaining highly mobile and difficult to pin down.

In smaller-scale PvP, many players would prefer Shadowmanes over larger apex dinos since they provide far more flexibility and control.

2. Tyrannosaurus Rex

Tyrannosaurus Rex ARK Survival Ascended

The Rex continues to be one of the most dependable combat dinos in the game, even after multiple balance patches.

Despite newer creatures entering the meta, the Rex still dominates boss armies because of its balance between health, damage, accessibility, and simplicity. A well-bred Rex with a quality saddle can still clear nearly every major boss encounter consistently.

Unlike specialized creatures, the Rex performs well in almost every scenario without requiring complicated mechanics or setup.

1. Megaraptor

Megaraptor ARK Survival Ascended

Taking the number one spot is the Megaraptor, which has rapidly become one of the strongest DPS creatures in the entire current meta.

With its introduction, the Megaraptor completely changed PvP combat thanks to its stealth abilities, isolation bonuses, and insane burst damage potential. Its “Solitary Hunter” mechanics allow it to deal devastating damage against isolated enemies while also gaining defensive advantages during solo engagements.

Unlike larger apex creatures that rely on brute force, the Megaraptor excels through speed, precision, and aggressive assassination-style gameplay.

Its combination of burst damage, stealth utility, and mobility firmly makes it the highest DPs dino in the current meta.

Honorable Mentions

There were also several creatures that narrowly missed the list but still remain extremely powerful in the current meta. They’re as follows:

  • Megatherium for boss-specific insect DPS
  • Deinonychus for percentage-based bleed damage
  • Yutyrannus for its powerful team buffs
  • Reaper King for aggressive PvP pressure
  • Wyverns for aerial burst damage and mobility

As ARK: Survival Ascended continues receiving new creatures and balance updates, the DPS rankings will likely continue evolving over time.
