Charms are a nice way to get a bit of extra power in Resident Evil Requiem and they’re spread across various locations.
As Grace, having them in your inventory gives you special effects. As Leon, you can equip them on guns to boost their potency in different ways. Either way, though, you’ll need to hunt them down if you wish to use them!
In this guide, I’ll tell you the effects and locations of every one of the game’s Charms!
DLC Charms
First of all, it’s worth noting that there are 3 Charms that are only available if you own the Deluxe Edition of the game.
Two of them are given to you from the start, but you have to work for the third! Don’t worry, though, I’ll tell you how to get them. But first, let’s look at the freebies you get:

Mr. Raccoon Charm – Increases precision and critical hit rate. Pick it up from an Item Box when playing as Grace.

DSO Emblem Charm – Increases precision and critical hit rate, can only be used on handguns. Will be in Leon’s inventory as soon as you take control of him.

Now, the third and final Charm is the R.P.D. Charm for Leon. It can be used on any gun and increases firepower when near death.
To get the R.P.D. Charm, however, you’ll need to find 5 Letters From 1998 hidden all over Raccoon City. That’s what I meant by saying you needed to do some work! But I’ll help you out with that. Let me quickly tell you how to get these letters.
Where to Find the Letters From 1998
From Meryl to Mommy

You can find the very first letter for this little quest at the Applegate Hotel. It’s on a couch in the hotel, pretty close to where you first play as Leon.
From Meryl to Mommy 2

For the second letter, you can pick it up as you go through the Gas Station. It’s on a shelf, right after the zombie that lunges at you.
From Meryl to Mommy 3

The third letter is close to Gun Shop Kendo. Go north from the shop on the map to find a wrecked car, the letter is on the car’s dashboard.
From Meryl to Mommy 4

Near the entrance to the Underground Parking Garage, behind a wrecked car.
From Meryl to Mommy 5 and R.P.D. Charm

In the alley to the east of Gun Shop Kendo. If you’ve collected all previous letters, you should see some children’s shoes as you enter the alley. The blank letter is just out in the open there, next to the large hole.

After you check out the blank letter, go a bit further into the alleyway and you’ll find the R.P.D. Charm on the ground, next to some debris. Pick it up and it’s all yours!
Eye Spy Charm – Care Center, Grace
Effect: increases the likelihood that you’ll survive fatal damage.
To get the Eye Spy Charm, you’ll need to defeat Chunk. This is a massive bloated zombie that you encounter upstairs in the East Wing of the Care Center.
To do this, I highly recommend using the Requiem and going for headshots. How many shots you need varies by difficulty, but you should have enough to put it down at this point.
Once Chunk goes down, check near where it exploded to find the Eye Spy Charm on the floor, as shown in the video below.
Stakeout Takeout Charm – Care Center, Grace
Effect: increases knife power and durability.
To get this one, you’ll first need to find and kill the Chef zombie roaming around the West Wing of the Care Center. He’s a tall lumbering zombie, so he’s easy to spot.
The easiest way to take him out is by using a Hemolytic Injector on him, which you can get through Grace’s Blood Collector crafting. Alternatively, just shoot and slash at him with your normal weapons!
Once the Chef is down, pick up the Pantry Key from his corpse, then go to the Kitchen in the West Wing. Open the Pantry there, then grab the charm from a box on the back shelf. The video below shows this entire process.
Connoisseur Charm – Care Center, Leon
Effect: Increases firepower. Can be used on any gun.
For this one, you’ll need to go into the Pantry again. If you already got the Stakeout Takeout Charm as Grace, the Pantry should be open still. Go inside and check the Warped Closet for the Charm, as shown in the video below.
Video showing how to get the Connoisseur Charm.
If you did not open the Pantry as Grace, don’t worry! You can still open it as Leon, the process is the same. Hunt down the Chef for the Pantry Key, then open the Pantry with that key.
BSAA Emblem Charm – East Raccoon City
Effect: Increases firepower only when the scope is not equipped. Only for sniper rifles.
After you get the BSAA Container Key as part of the story, go to the Gas Station. Find the empty Gas Can south of the Gas Station, and fill it at the Fuel Tank to the north.
Once you’ve filled it up, return to where you picked up the Gas Can and use it to fill up the nearby empty Gas Powered Generator.
This will allow you to follow a path through the sewers and train stations, ultimately leading you to the BSAA Container 04, which contains the Charm. The next video shows the entire process and route to get this tricky Charm.
Power Shades Charm – Raccoon City Center, R.P.D.
Effect: offers limitless bullet penetration and increases the firepower of the last bullet in the cylinder. Only for Requiem.
To get this one, you’ll need to reach the S.T.A.R.S. Office by going upstairs at the Raccoon City Center. You’ll find a locked briefcase with a 3-digit code in the back room of the office.
To open this briefcase, you’ll need to do a bit of exploring around the office to find the clues. If you want to do it the normal way with our guidance, check out our guide on this briefcase’s code!
Now, if you want the short of it, you just need to input RRR as the code. This will unlock the briefcase, rewarding you with the Power Shades Charm, as shown in the video below.
S.T.A.R.S. Emblem Charm – Raccoon City Center, R.P.D.
Effect: increases firepower at the cost of more sway while aiming. Only for automatic guns.
For this one, you’ll need to participate in a bit of a scavenger hunt, starting in the S.T.A.R.S Office. Check the Made in Heaven jacket (that’s a classic!) in the office to see a picture clue. There’s another clue in one of the lockers, as well.
Follow both clues by going to the Operations Room on the lower floor. Get atop one of the crates there and check the hanging TV to get the Locker Key.
Then, return to the West Office and open the locked locker with your Locker Key. You’ll find the Charm and a note from one of my favorite Resident Evil characters there. The video below shows this entire puzzle and process.
Cute Bear Charm – Raccoon City Center, Parking Garage
Effect: increases mid-range firepower, sacrificing close-quarter potency. Only for shotguns.
After you escape from the R.P.D., turn to your left as you go out into the streets and you’ll be able to enter the Underground Parking Garage of the Raccoon City Center.
Walk up to the large open container and then turn to your right. You’ll find the Cute Bear Charm on the ground there, as shown in the video below.
Rugged Rookie Charm and Trusted Companion Charms – Special Content Shop

For the last two Charms, you will need to beat the game at least once. This will unlock the Special Content shop under the Bonus section of the main menu. You can get both of these Charms from there:

Trusted Companion Charm (Leon) – Increases bullet penetration. Only for handguns. Rewarded upon defeating 300 enemies.

Rugged Rookie Charm (Grace) – Increases firepower while in inventory. Purchase it for 6500 Completion Points (CP), which you get by completing Challenges.
There you have it, that’s how to get all 9 Charms in Resident Evil Requiem, including their locations and effects! Well, 12 Charms if you’re a Deluxe Edition owner, of course.
The Charms can help you with combat and such, but do you want more help as you go through Grace’s and Leon’s campaigns? Check out our guide to all the puzzles in RE9.
