Witchcraft and sorcery will always have a good and bad side. As you play Hogwarts Legacy, you will be introduced to different spells, including the Unforgivable Curses.

As implied in the name, Unforgivable Curses are spells that must not be used. Otherwise, the caster will be thrown to Azkaban.

However, you can freely use these spells in the game to fight strong enemies. Here’s how.

As you progress through the story, you will learn all the standard spells that will be essential for combat, strategy, and even just for convenience.

At some point, you will also be given the chance to learn the Unforgivable Curses which are Crucio, Imperio, and Avada Kedavra.

These three spells are quite powerful and are also known as killing spells. Wizards who use these spells are condemned by the Ministry of Magic.

In the game, however, you are given the freedom to use any of these without receiving any sanction.

You can unlock the Unforgivable Curses by doing some quests.

Casting curses on enemies is actually pretty easy in Hogwarts Legacy. Once you have unlocked the spells, make sure to equip them and prepare your wand.

Upon casting Crucio or Imperio to an enemy, you will see a green X mark on its body. This indicates that the enemy is cursed.

In consequence, the marked enemy will suffer from continuous damage. Aside from that, enemies also experience differently according to the curse you inflicted.

Targets cursed with Imperio will be controlled for a short while. They will be forced to attack other enemies for you as well.

As for Crucio, the target will receive massive damage as it will suffer immense pain from this torturous curse. Once targets are cursed, you can use any combat spells to exterminate them as they will be more vulnerable to your spells.

Unlike the two previous curses, Avada Kedavra won’t need any more attacks after you curse the enemy. The reason is that casting this will instantly kill the enemy.
