Building a workbench in Grounded isn’t a difficult task, but will require you to locate and source some components from your new, larger-than-life environment.

Having access to the workbench will allow players to create items that can assist them more easily with resource farming/collection, and improve their odds of survival.

Here’s how to build a workbench in Grounded to help your character best traverse the new backyard environment they now find themselves in.

How to Build A Workbench in Grounded

The workbench will require three specific materials.

These are:

  • 2 x Sap
  • 4 x Sprigs
  • 3 x Grass Planks

Collecting the Resources Required for the Workbench

Sap and Sprigs should both be pretty easy to source, and do not require any additional resources. Grass Planks, however, will require the use of an axe, and cannot be stored in your inventory.

Sprigs” are basically just blades of grass that have yet to fully mature. You’ll be able to simply pick these/obtain them wherever you see sprouting grass in the game. It’ll probably be easiest for you to aim to collect this resource first.

Sap” is obtained as little droplets from twigs and branches. This will appear as little brown, slightly translucent droplets on any sticks or branches you see. Explore and you should have no trouble sourcing some for the workbench.

Grass Planks” will likely be the most difficult of all three to harvest. Players will need to ensure they have an axe to actually harvest the planks. To make an axe, players will need 1 Woven Fiber, 2 Pebblets, and 3 Sprigs.

Once they have the axe, they simply need to equip it and use it on any normal blade of glass to harvest a single Grass Plank. Instead of going into the inventory, however, they will need to be carried. As they are considered ‘stackable,’ players should aim to carry all three at one time.

Creating the Workbench

If you’ve already obtained all the prior materials, the workbench should appear in the “Crafting” menu, indicated under “Utilities.”

When it comes to actually creating the workbench, players will have to choose where to place it within their camp. Once you select the option to build, the workbench will be created, and you can then begin to use it.

Now that you’ve actually built the workbench, you’ll be able to begin crafting more useful weapons like a bow, along with more durable tools for collecting resources.
