The Malfeasance Exotic hand cannon used to be a DLC-exclusive weapon that you can only unlock in the Forsaken DLC.

Luckily, it eventually became available for players and is now making a comeback once again.

If you want to get your hands on this powerful weapon, this guide will show you what to do.

Luckily, the quest you need to complete in order to obtain the Malfeasence hasn’t changed that much.

The quest in question is called Darkness in the Light, and you can get it by taking down a Taken Primeval in any Gambit match.

After completing a Gambit match, you will receive the quest which will then prompt you to go and speak to the Drifter in the Tower.

You can locate him in the left section of the area as shown above.

If somehow you have abandoned the quest, you can just talk to the Drifter and look for the quest on the second page of his inventory.

He will then task you with defeating 25 Taken bosses and/or minibosses.

There are a few ways to do this, but by far the easiest is to head to the Aphelion’s Rest Lost Sector in The Dreaming City.

You don’t have to clear the Lost Sector for this. All you have to do is head straight to the boss and kill it as quickly as possible.

After that, your next step is to complete the mission called The Corrupted. You will be able to see the quest’s location on your map.

Do keep in mind that you won’t be able to do matchmaking for this one. Instead, you’ll have to do it solo or have someone else help you.

Taking Part in Gambit Matches

Once you’ve completed the objective, speak to the Drifter and he’ll then instruct you to win 10 Gambit matches and bank a total of 400 Motes.

Take note that while doing this quest, losing 1 Mote will count as you losing 2 Motes. So if you want to finish this objective as quickly as possible, you have to be careful not to lose too many Motes per match.

The final step involves getting a total of 25 Guardian kills and killing four enemy Guardians while invading the opposite team.

If you find it too hard to accomplish, you can just have one of your teammates do the invasion instead. However, they’ll have to do it three times which can be a bit tricky.

After completing your final objective, go back to the Tower and speak to the Drifter. He’ll then reward you with the Malfeasance hand cannon for your efforts.
