Destiny 2: Season of Plunder: Cryptic Quatrians 1 Guide | Pirate Riddles Locations

Enter the ‘Cryptic Quatrains’ questline – these are available in multiple parts, and each one can be accessed through the Star Chart vendor in H.E.L.M.

Each ‘part’ of the quest will require a corresponding specific reputation level to be obtained through the Season of Plunder activities. Part one will require a rank of seven, and part two will require a rank of ten – three will require a rank of sixteen.

Parts one and two will reward players with the fragments of Crude Cipher for slotting into the Captain’s Atlas – while part three seems to suggest leading players toward another Exotic weapon.

This makes proceeding through the Cryptic Quatrain worth doing for players seeking to obtain something special this season. Cryptic Quatrains I Guide for Season of Plunder

After grabbing the ‘Small Treasure Beacon’ reward up from the Star Chart vendor in H.E.L.M, in your quest inventory you’ll notice the first of four separate riddles.

Each one of these riddles is intentionally confusing and deceiving – but the key to them is the words that are specifically highlighted.

The first riddle in Cryptic Quatrains I is pretty simplistic, with the highlighted words giving you the first key step of “begin search on moon.”

This means you will have to travel to either the Moon landing zone ‘Sanctuary’ or ‘Sorrow’s Harbor.’

This will automatically enable the second step of the quest for you. The second part of the riddle will give you a location on the Moon itself to investigate. The highlighted “sorrow” will point you in the direction of Sorrow’s Harbor, but “revelation” and “lost” are indicators of Sorrow’s Harbor’s “Lost Sector.”

This area is of course called K1 Revelation. Head on over to the Lost Sector and loot the chest you find there while completing a run of the area. Opening this chest will enable the next part of the riddle from there.

The next step is to complete a Strike. The indicated destination is the Fallen S.A.B.E.R strike – available in the Cosmodrome.

This completion only requires a single run through and the final part of this riddle will then be made available to you once the Strike boss has been defeated and you loot the final corresponding chest.

Finally, the last part of Cryptic Quatrains I will actually guide you to a buried treasure that the quest is rewarding you with.

This “buried treasure” will be on Europa, near the Eventide Ruins – pay attention to the highlighted “hook” and “cranes” text that are apparent references to the cranes that surround the entrance to Riis Reborn.

Once you’re near the location of the dig site, it is pretty easy to spot – you’ll notice the glaring obvious bright green paint that the treasure spots are marked with in the season Expedition activity.

You can then locate the “X” and uncover the first part of two Crude Ciphers, which will help you to complete the first part of the Cryptic Quatrains I questline.
