Now that Temtem’s finally gone full release, we can expect a number of players to go and try this game out. This is especially true for fans of the Pokemon series. After all, Temtem took a lot of inspiration from Pokemon when it comes to its basic systems.
That said, there are a few aspects of the game that might sound confusing for beginners. If that’s the case, then this beginner’s guide should be able to help you.
Ultimate Beginner’s Guide in TemTem
Similar to Pokemon, you’ll have to pick a starter Temtem at the start of the game. You have three choices to pick from which are as follows:
Crystle
Houchic
Smazee
Each of these starter Temtem has its own unique specialty. If you’re leaning toward offense, then Houchic is the ideal option. Meanwhile, if you want to go for a defensive Temtem, then that would be Crystle.
On the other hand, if you want a balanced Temtem, then Smazee would be your best option.
Of course, you can swap your Temtem later on as you start capturing more of them in the wild. However, picking your starter depending on your playstyle can help you breeze through the first few hours of the game.
With that out of the way, let’s now talk about other tips that will surely help you as a beginner in Temtem.
Familiarize Yourself with the Various Strengths/Weaknesses
Just like Pokemon, Temtem has its own system of strengths and weaknesses depending on a Temtem’s type. There are roughly a dozen types of Temtem in the game, and each type has its own strengths and weaknesses.
What you have to keep in mind is that each Temtem’s attack has its own type. This means that the damage of its attacks will either increase or decrease depending on the type of Temtem it’s up against. For example, a Fire Temtem is strong against Crystal and Nature while weak against Earth and Water.
As such, if it’s up against either an Earth or Water Temtem, it will be at a great disadvantage even if it has a higher level. It can take time to memorize all strengths and weaknesses of its type, as most of them have two on each aspect.
However, I highly recommend taking the time to do so as it can help make your future battles significantly easier.
Pair Your Low-Level Temtem with a High-Level One
It’s worth noting that experience is shared between your team during battle. This means that if you have a low-level Temtem you want to level up, then the best way would be to pair it up with a high-level one. This way, your high-level Temtem will be the one to take care of the battle as your low-level one starts racking up tons of experience.
Rearrange Your Temtem’s Techniques
Your Temtem’s attacks are arranged by default, but you can actually rearrange them based on your preference. Ideally, I would recommend rearranging them by putting your favorite attacks at the top.
This way, you can easily access the ones you use the most since they will be used as the default each time you enter a battle.
Not only that, but it also saves you some precious seconds scrolling down your Temtem’s list of moves.
Stack Up as Many Balms as You Can
You will inevitably fight many battles as you play the game. As such, your Temtem will definitely get hurt fighting wild Temtem and Temtem from trainers and even players. While you can nurse them back to full health via the Temporium, it can quickly get inconvenient.
For this, you want to prepare as many Balms as you possibly can instead. You want to use them during and after fights to keep your Temtem’s health full as much as possible.
Get Social
Temtem is termed an MMORPG, and that means you’ll be able to meet a lot of other players throughout the world. While you can play solo, there’s always a benefit to playing and interacting with other players.
For one, you can chat and trade with them. This is particularly useful if you’re looking for some item or just want to sell items you don’t need.
Aside from that, developing a network of online friends will give you access to in-game information that you won’t otherwise find somewhere else. You can even trade for Temtem which is a nice feature if you’re tired of breeding them yourself.
