Temtem: How to Increase Your Chances of Catching Temtem

After more than two years of being in Early Access, Temtem is now finally in its full release state. This means that if you’re a fan of the Pokemon games, then now’s the time to get Temtem a try. Just like Pokemon, Temtem’s gameplay revolves around two things: catching Temtem and fighting them.

As far as catching Temtem goes, the game doesn’t really tell you how to do it. It just assumes that you already know how. Luckily, this guide will show you the basics of catching Temtem and increasing your chances of a successful catch.

How to Increase Your Chances of Catching Temtem in Temtem

So how do you catch a Temtem?

Well, you just have to encounter one in the wild and use the game’s version of the Poke Ball which is the TemCard. If you encounter a Temtem you want to catch, simply open your bag and choose the TemCard. Now, it’s not always a guaranteed catch, as there are Temtem that are a bit rare to find, hence harder to catch.

Luckily, there are ways to increase your odds of catching one. They’re as follows:

Lower Its Health Before Capturing

Possibly the most straightforward method of capturing one. Basically, you have to lower the health of your target Temtem down to a certain point. However, this runs the risk of accidentally killing the wild Temtem you want to catch.

This is especially true if you aren’t able to estimate the strength of your current Temtem’s attacks.

Just to be safe, aim to lower your target Temtem’s health to around 30% before you attempt to capture it. This is not a guaranteed method, however, but it sure does help in increasing your chances of a successful catch.

Inflict Status Conditions

Certain status conditions like Frozen or Asleep can also help increase your chances of capturing your target Temtem. This is a much safer means of doing so as you don’t have to lower a wild Temtem’s health. Instead, you just have to inflict it with a status condition that renders it incapable of fighting for a few turns.

Use the Four-Leaf Clover

The final method we have is by using an item called the Four-Leaf Clover. Basically, this item increases your chances of capturing a wild Temtem by an unspecified amount. However, this is not an item that you will be using. Instead, you need to equip it to one of your Temtem.

This also means that only that Temtem with the item equipped can benefit from the Four-Leaf Clover’s effect. As such, you have to carefully plan who to put it on before you even head out to the wild.

Bonus

If you can afford to spend some money, then you can buy either the TemCard+ or the TemCard++. These are the stronger versions of the normal TemCard that grants an increased capture bonus of 1.5 and 2.5 respectively.

However, they’re quite expensive, so I won’t actually recommend them on normal Temtem.
