Destiny 2: Season of Plunder: How to Get Thunderlord Catalyst
As a possible reward for Strike, Crucible, or Gambit matches – the Thunderlord Catalyst is a fairly easy to obtain Exotic gun, that adds the perk ‘Return Stroke’ to made one powerful PvE weapon in Destiny 2.
The ‘Thunderlord Catalyst’ ramps up the Thunderlord, and is now available as a ‘random’ drop in Destiny 2’s Season of Plunder by completing various playlist activities. There’s a fair chance you could get the Thunderlord Catalyst Exotic exceedingly fast – or it could require a hell of a grind.
How to Obtain the ‘Thunderlord Catalyst’ In Destiny 2: Season of Plunder
Once obtaining the Exotic Catalyst for the Thunderlord, you can then upgrade it by getting the required kills for the ‘Return Stroke’ perk, which allows you to partially reload from reserves whenever it causes a Lightning Strike and Reign Havoc is activated. This requires 500 kills of any enemy.
Once you’ve rounded up those kills, ensure you apply the Exotic Catalyst to Thunderlord to get the Return Stroke: for continuous lightning and steady reloading – an optimal choice for a strong Arc 3.0 build.
First things first, though. How do you obtain the Catalyst in Season of Plunder?
This Exotic can only be obtained as a randomized drop from any Crucible match, Gambit match, or Strike completion. And as it is “random,” there’s no guarantee or safe bet that you’ll obtain it – so you simply have to keep playing through those corresponding activities until you get it.
Given that Rumble matches are pretty short compared to the alternatives, they may be the best bet to secure the Catalyst quickly as an end-of-game reward. This would likely only take a couple of hours of grinding to unlock in our experience – and other users and guides online seem to generally have the same experience.
