The Outlaws update in No Man’s Sky has introduced a lot of exciting stuff. One such addition comes in the form of the Solar Ships, which come in different styles and various colors.

Solar Ships come with a big solar sail and pretty unique silhouettes compared to every other ship class. They’re procedurally generated with lots of variations, and some color schemes do show up much less often than others, so hunting for one you love can be a legit activity.

Here’s how you can get one for yourself.

How to Find the Rarest Colored Solar Ship in No Man’s Sky Outlaws

For starters, Solar Ships are a class of vessel that normally spawn “across the universe” but are way more common in Outlaw/Pirate systems.

In these systems, Outlaw Stations replace normal space stations, and you’ll see Solar Ships spawning regularly in the docking bay.

That said, you don’t need to go to a specific planet or use a portal to find Solar Ships.

Just park at an Outlaw Station or trading post and wait for them to land. Each system has a ship pool, and Solar Ships can roll into any landing pad just like regular ships.

Solar Ships are procedurally generated, and that includes their paint schemes. Most of the time, they come in various primary colors like blue, green, grey, orange, red, white and yellow.

However, some combinations simply show up less often because procedural generation has random weighting behind the scenes.

To give yourself the best shot at finding a color you love, here’s a step-by-step guide you might want to follow:

  1. Start by finding an Outlaw system using the Galaxy Map. A system with a pirate conflict level will have an Outlaw Station.
  2. Go inside the Outlaw Station docking bay or a trading outpost on a planet in that system and wait for ships to land. The spawn pool here has lots of Solar Ships, so you’ll see them more often than outside these systems.
  3. If a Solar Ship with a color you like lands but the class isn’t great, you can still buy it and upgrade later. You can also reload your save before buying to keep trying for a better roll.
  4. Repeat the above steps until you find the ship with the color you love.

Things to Consider Regarding Ship Colors

No Man’s Sky doesn’t provide any way to directly force a specific ship color or color tier through mechanics like glyph portals, disabling multiplayer, or teleporting to predefined coordinates.

Instead, these variants are tied to spawn pools and randomness, not static coordinates.

Also, note that the developers have patched issues in the past where Solar Ships were changing color unexpectedly, and at least one patch was released to fix these unintended changes.

It’s worth noting that the color combinations that feel rare to one player might just be a low frequency procedural roll.
