You will start the Sunbreak expansion with a Master Rank, which means that you already progressed far enough in the base game. However, since Sunbreak has an increased level of difficulty, your current Master Rank won’t matter that much.
Instead, what you should be looking for is a build that will take you through the early stages of the expansion. Let’s have a look at some of them.
Early Master Rank Builds in Monster Hunter: Sunbreak
First of all, view this as starting from scratch. As mentioned earlier, your Master Rank won’t matter that much in the expansion. Instead, you should focus on progressing further by picking the right build for your playstyle. Here are some of my recommendations:
Melee Build
Your choice of weapon will depend on your preferred playstyle. However, you’ll want to focus on equipping the following items:
Kaiser Crown
Kamura Legacy Garb
Jaggi Gauntlets
Velociprey Tassets
Orangaten Greaves
Absolute Petalace
Fatal Tempest Talisman
This build is a solid and reliable build that will take you through the early game. It’s mainly for starters, and you will be able to find better gear later on. But as an early Master Rank, this build is no doubt one of the best out there.
You will mostly focus on Attack Boost with both the gauntlets and the tasset. Overall, the build focuses more on dealing a huge amount of damage as quickly as possible. This way, you’ll be able to hunt monsters pretty quickly and efficiently. Meanwhile, the greaves will grant you a handful of buffs, particularly Protective Polish.
Ranged Build
As for the ranged build, you’ll want to use the following:
Rhenoplos Helm X
Kamura Legacy Garb
Artillery Corps Gauntlets
Artillery Corps Tassets
Artillery Corps Greaves
Absolute Petalace
Fatal Tempest Talisman
Similar to the first build, your choice of a ranged weapon will vary depending on your preference. However, I would highly recommend the Sinister Shadow Bolt. Also, this build focuses on dealing maximum damage as possible.
It mainly incorporates Attack Boost, Weakness Exploit, Spare Shot, Artillery, Pierce Up, Ammo Up, Reload Speed, and Recoil Down. These are the most important skills that you need in order to deal heavy damage with your ranged weapon.
