Helldivers 2 has many Stratagems to pick from, with the LIFT-850 Jump Pack being one of the most unique ones you can use.

It’s a small little jet pack, put it on and boost up to reach places you couldn’t reach before! This increases your tactical abilities, as you can get out of reach of certain enemies.

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to get and use the Jump Pack Stratagem.

How to Use the LIFT-850 Jump Pack – Obtaining It

Helldivers 2: How to Use Jump Pack - Unlock

To use the LIFT-850 Jump Pack, you first need to unlock it as one of your Stratagems.

You can get it once you reach Level 8, and it costs 6000 Requisition Slips. You can find it in the Hangar category at Ship Management.

It takes 5 seconds to call it down and it has unlimited uses. However, it has a pretty long-listed cooldown of 480 seconds.

But, that’s just the cooldown for calling the Stratagem, the actual cooldown between jumps is just 20 seconds. It would be nearly useless if it took 480 seconds to charge up!

Waiting for the Jump Pack to drop

Now, to use it, you just need to equip it as one of your Stratagems before taking on a mission. Then, during the mission, call the Jump Pack supply drop like you would any other Stratagem.

Lastly, pick it up from the supply pod to instantly put it on, you can now see it on your back. It should have a yellow light on it, indicating that it’s fully charged and ready to take you to the skies!

Alternatively, you can see its charge on the bottom left corner of the screen, between your grenades and ammo.

Helldivers 2: How to Use Jump Pack - Flying

To use the Jump Pack, just hold down X (PlayStation controller) or the Spacebar (PC keyboard) to activate the Jump Pack and fly!

Though, admittedly, it’s a very short-lived fly. It only boosts you up for a couple of seconds, which is… frankly quite disappointing, when combined with the 20-second recharge.

It’s also worth noting that you can’t aim in first-person POV while using the Jump Pack. In fact, aiming in first-person and then using the Jump Pack will instantly bring you back to the third-person view.

Cheesing a Charger by going out of reach

Nonetheless, using the short boost wisely can help you reach previously inaccessible places.

This can give you a huge advantage over certain enemies, such as Chargers, as they have no way to deal with you being on higher ground.

While charging, you will notice that the Jump Pack’s light and its icon are red. When it’s yellow again, you can use it again, now that you know how to!
