As Dwarf Fortress enters the bandwagon of joining Steam, lots of new players are planning to try out the thrill of playing this game. What makes this game fun is that it showcases the creativity and a strategic mind as the player guides the survival of dwarves.
This game involves a lot of mining, designing, and building different rooms.
One of the most important spaces that you have to give the dwarves is the tavern. As help for the newbie players, here is a brief guide on how you can build a tavern.
How To Build Tavern Guide in Dwarf Fortress
In building a tavern, the first thing you have to do is look for a space and allot enough area to be your dwarves’ tavern. Keep in mind that one of the most common reasons for a dwarf’s death is intoxication. That being said, you need a big space for the tavern to accommodate all the food and other necessities.
This is optional, but you can attach a small room to serve as a dormitory for some visitors.
Once everything is on the layout, wait for the spaces to be completely dug out and smooth afterward.
While you are waiting for the floor to be fully smoothed, you can start by adding a few beds on the dormitory part by pressing b and choosing the Bed, as well as placing a door on your tavern.
Once the floor is done being smoothed, you can now place some tables and chairs. However, you have to remember that a table can only be paired with one chair, otherwise, the dwarves will be too annoyed that their table will be too crowded.
Next will be the most important thing that you should have in a tavern–a chest. You should never forget to put a chest or a coffer in building a tavern because this is where all mugs are kept. Do not forget that these dwarves love to drink booze.
And then, choose any side that you want to assign as a stockpile of food.
After that, press z or click the zone tab and highlight the whole tavern as a meeting area. Assign it as a new inn/tavern. Do the same thing with the connected room and highlight it as a dormitory.
