Ore Nuggets are the main currency in Gothic 1 Remake, so you’ll want to know the best ways to farm them if you want to get rich.

That said, there aren’t too many ways to really get a lot of it. The economy in this game is quite limiting, really! You’ll mostly get Ore in pretty meager amounts through looting.

That said, there are definitely ways to get more, which is what I’ll tell you all about!

Go Mining

As you might imagine, one of the best ways to get Ore Nuggets in this game is to simply go mining. You’re in a mining valley, after all! That said, you’ll need a Pickaxe for this first.

If you don’t have a Pickaxe yet, I recommend grabbing one from the small mineshafts at the start of the game. Both mineshafts on the way to the Old Camp have Pickaxes in them, as shown in the next clip.

Additionally, you can also loot them from downed Diggers or find them around as loot while in any mine.

That aside, to find an Ore vein, I recommend going to the Old Mine. It’s the spot marked above, directly northwest of the Old Camp.

Inside the mine, you can find Ore veins that have a purple glow. Approach them while you have a Pickaxe and interact to gather some Ore. It’s as simple as that! It’s a tad boring and slow, but it’s something.

Mining More Efficiently

Now, there are two tricks you can do here to make this process a lot more efficient. And I really do mean a lot! Maybe too efficient…

The first is to make good use of animation cancels. Start attacking with your Pickaxe first, then press the interact button before your attack ends. If you do it right, you’ll gather Ore without sitting through the slow mining animation. The clip below shows an example.

The second trick is one that is borderline a game-breaking exploit. Nonetheless, I figured someone might want to use it before it gets patched out!

That is, you just need to save and reload. Save after you exhaust an Ore vein and reload to find it fully refilled. This allows you to mine it again indefinitely.

Now, I say this is game-breaking because you can use this to get thousands of Ore Nuggets quickly. You don’t even need to move, as you just mine a single Ore vein over and over. It breaks the game’s economy, really.

So, whether or not you use the reloading trick is up to you. However, I do recommend at least using the animation cancelling, as it saves you a lot of time.

Loot Everything, Sell What You Don’t Need

Another good way to get some Ore Nuggets is to just make sure you open every single container you come across. Even the ones you have to lockpick, since they’re more profitable!

Not only can you find some Ore within the chests themselves sometimes, but you might also find other goodies. That includes good gear, allowing you to save Ores you would’ve spent on gear.

Aside from looting containers, it’s also a good idea to loot creatures. Learn Hunting skills from Aidan or Cavalorn west of the Old Camp, or Drax in the central valley.

Use these Hunting skills to gather goodies from dead creatures. Some of these are useful materials, while others are great for selling.

Which, on that note, you can just sell anything you loot and don’t need to go to any trader. It’s not always the most profitable thing ever, but every bit helps in this game.

Complete Quests

Another of the few good ways you have to earn a lot of Ore Nuggets in this game is to simply complete quests. You get a solid amount of Ore from quite a few quests, while others allow you access to profitable areas.

That said, quests can admittedly be a crapshoot, as not all of them really give you Ore Nuggets. Still, they’re all worth doing, even when you don’t get Ore, so don’t ignore them. You might get other useful things, such as the Scavenger mount!

Wrapping Up

Ultimately, there aren’t many ways to get Ore in Gothic 1 Remake, so the best way ends up being mining. Especially if you don’t have an issue with using potential exploits, either.

Nonetheless, your primary source of Ore in this game is simply looting and selling unneeded loot. Quests can give you a solid lump sum at times, as well, so don’t ignore those either. So in short: mine, loot, sell, and complete quests!
