F1 22: Best Controller Settings | Setup Guide

Racing games like the F1 22 are best played with a racing wheel. However, if you don’t have one, then a controller is your next best option. It’s certainly possible to play the game and win races using a controller in F1 22. But to make that happen, you have to configure your controller settings first.

In this guide, I’ll show you how to configure your controller settings to achieve more precision during races.

Best Controller Settings in F1 22

The very first thing you have to consider when setting up your controller is to calibrate it. This is really important as it lets you know if all of your controller’s functions are still working properly.

To start, you’ll want to start the button test which is an icon on the bottom right corner of the menu. Press the button to start the button test. The Calibration test will guide you through a series of tests where you have to input certain keys to make sure they’re working properly.

One of the most important is your steering inputs. Do this by moving your analog stick from side to side. You should be able to see the bar on the right moving from 100 to -100 and vice versa. If you can hit both numbers, it simply means that your analog stick is working just fine.

Do the same for both triggers. Then again, they should be able to hit both numbers to make sure that the brake and throttle inputs work just fine. Once you’re done, simply close the button test.

Adjusting Your Controller Settings

There’s quite a handful of stuff to adjust here, so make sure to go through all of them. First off, you’ll want to head to the menu and go to Game Options. Choose Settings, and on the next page, you’ll find a bunch of several other options you can go through.

In the upper right corner, you can choose your Race Style, be it standard, expert, or casual. We’ll go with the standard style on this one and look at the Assists section first. In the Assists section, you can adjust a bunch of stuff. Simply follow the adjustments shown on the image below:

Once you’re done, go back to the Game Settings and head over to the Controls, Vibration, and Force Feedback settings. Inside, choose the preset for your controller and then choose Edit in the options.

Customizing Your Control Scheme

This one has a bunch of options, but for the most part, you’ll only want to tinker with the upper settings. Ideally, you can copy the adjustments shown in the image below:

After that, head over to Calibration which is at the very top of the settings. From there, adjust the settings to the ones shown in the image below:

The changes you made will be automatically applied. As long as you followed the above changes, you should be able to accurately play F1 22 using your controller.
