Salt and Sacrifice – How to Defeat URYKS NECKLACE OF EARS

There are tons of tough and challenging enemies you’ll encounter in Salt and Sacrifice, and the baddest of the bunch are the bosses themselves. Taking inspiration from the Souls series, the game will have you fight against a number of bosses throughout your journey. One of them is Uryks Necklace-of-Ears.

Uryks Necklace-of-Ears is considered the first boss you’ll ever fight in the game. He hits hard, but thankfully, his attacks can be easily avoided as long as you know how to properly time your rolls. In a way, this will serve as a skill check for players.

If you’re struggling with this boss, I have some tips and tricks to help you. Let’s get started.

How to Defeat Uryks Necklace-of-Ears in Salt and Sacrifice

To fight Uryks Necklace-of-Ears, you’ll want to head to Ashbourne Village, then head left until you arrive at the entrance to Root-Ceil Cavern. Once inside, go all the way down and head right until you get to Greymoss Mire.

Make sure to rest and resupply at the nearby Obelisk. From the Obelisk, simply follow the path downward and go all the way right until you encounter Uryks Necklace-of-Ears on the road.

How to Fight and Beat Uryks Necklace-of-Ears

Uryks Necklace-of-Ears isn’t the hardest boss in the game, but for beginners, he will no doubt pose a challenge. For starters, you’ll want to be patient during the boss fight and not get too greedy when doing counterattacks. Make sure to keep some distance and use ranged attacks to whittle down his HP as much as possible.

Prior to the fight, you’ll want to prepare a handful of Hearthen Flasks as well as a ranged weapon too. Besides, Uryks Necklace-of-Ears is weak to poison, so bringing a Poison Bomb with you can make the fight a lot more manageable.

What you want to keep in mind is that Uryks Necklace-of-Ears has plenty of hard-hitting attacks, though the caveat is that they are pretty slow and have long windups which you can take advantage of. Anytime he starts his windups, your best option is to dodge roll beneath and behind him, and then get in a hit or two. DON’T get too greedy, otherwise, you’ll be eating one of his attacks and lose a huge chunk of HP in return.

While Uryks Necklace-of-Ears still has a lot of HP, his attack variety won’t be that varied. His usual attacks will just involve a sword thrust, a downward stab, or a jump attack. You can easily avoid all those by dodge rolling forward.

It’s when his health goes down to half that the fight gets more challenging. During this phase, he can now perform a three-hit combo that will hit like a truck. This can be quite punishing if you try to get a hit in after every roll. Also, his jump attacks will now be followed by a rapid turn and slash. At this point, you’ll want to wait for the combos to finish before you can get a hit or two, then rinse and repeat.

Since Uryks Necklace-of-Ears doesn’t have any ranged attacks, you can “cheese” him by using a ranged weapon and attacking him from a distance.

You can also use magic, though you’ll have to keep an eye out on your ammo. Don’t forget to throw your Poison Bomb as well as it can help make the fight significantly easier.
