What Even Is a Reserve Loadout?
This is a short tip before we get started. After all, the reserve loadout is a bit confusing to most players when starting the game. Myself included, actually!
Anyway, the reserve loadout can only be accessed in between respawns. You can’t access it while you’re alive at all, and you can’t modify the reserve before a match starts either.
Carefully plan out your active and reserve loadouts, so that you have useful backups to change to when you die.
Figurines & Revivals
You know those figurines every player drops when they go down? One relatively important but easy-to-miss hidden mechanic in The Finals is that you can grab your allies’ figurines. It works just like any other grabbable item!
This allows you to move them to safer spots so you can revive them, making revival attempts somewhat easier.
Sadly, though, we can’t grab enemy figurines. That would lead to too many shenanigans, it seems!
On the upside, you can at least place traps and mines around enemy figurines to make it much harder for your enemies to revive each other.
Trick Throws
There are some smaller extra tricks to keep in mind while we’re talking about grabs, throws, and the like.
First one is that the range of your grabs is much larger than you might first assume. You can usually pick up stuff way before you even see the prompt to grab them.
Want to know how long the range is? Well… the screenshot at the top of this sub-section is the player grabbing the Cashbox, not throwing it!
Speaking of Cashboxes, you can actually throw them into Cashout Stations. This can make starting a Cashout easier during particularly hectic matches!
Also, there are way more items you can grab than just canisters and Cashboxes. Things like small potted plants and chairs can be picked up and thrown to deal damage. It’s very minimal damage, but it might just come in handy!
Make Throwables Explode Sooner
This is our last tip about throwable items on this list, we swear! But it’s a pretty useful one if you just need canisters to go off sooner.
Explosive Canisters don’t actually start their explosion process until they’re thrown. You can work around this by throwing and quickly grabbing them back. Then, when you throw them again, they should explode on contact.
This works for most types of canisters, and mastering it can make them much more efficient!
The only exception is the yellow Flammable Canisters, which work a little differently. In their case, you should do a quick melee on them to set them off while you hold them.
Then, once they go up in flames, you have about 5 seconds until they explode and burn their surroundings. Time it right and you’ll surprise your enemies with a quick burst of fire!
Become A Demolition Expert
One of the most unique things about The Finals is the insane environmental destruction. If you really want to excel in this game, you’ll have to make good use of it!
You can, for example, break the bases of buildings to make them topple over. This is most useful if an enemy team is hiding inside a building as they protect a Cashout.
But even beyond that, you can destroy the mobility supports such as ropes and ziplines as well! This can be used to protect places you don’t enemy teams to reach easily.
Just always remember to think outside the box. Explosives and the Heavy’s Sledgehammer are always your best friends if you wish to quickly destroy enemy hideouts!
Goo Is Goo-d For Traversal
Goo isn’t just useful to create makeshift barriers on a whim, it’s also good for traversal if you’re ingenious enough.
You can create Goo structures with Goo Grenades and the Heavy’s Goo Gun, then climb them to allow you to reach spots you couldn’t before!
This is particularly useful for the Heavy, as it can help them create bridges and the like to overcome their poor mobility. That is if you’re willing to sacrifice your Specialization slot for the Goo Gun…
You can also take advantage of the Goo’s odd shape to easily angle Jump Pads as a Medium. Use them to boost yourself and your team to unreachable places.
Do be warned, though, Goo can be easily set on fire!
As a little add-on to this tip, the Medium Build’s turrets are actual physical objects too. What that means is that you can attach them to walls and climb them if need be!
