Gothic 1 Remake: Where to Find All Bestiary Books (Learn Hunting Skills)

If you want to improve and learn new Hunting skills in Gothic 1 Remake, you’ll need to know where to find all of the Bestiary books.

There are a few Bestiary books scattered all over the Valley of the Mines. Finding them and bringing them to Cavalorn will unlock various quests, each one resulting in you learning a new Hunting skill. Quite nifty!

In this guide, I’ll tell you where to find every one of the Bestiary books you need.

The Bestiary of Khorinis I

For the very first book, go into the hut by the fishing dock outside of New Camp. It’s close to where Jan is. Just go right in to find the book on a table, as shown in the next video.

The Bestiary of Khorinis II

Uniquely, compared to other Bestiary books, this one has two possible locations. At least, I’m not aware of any of the other books having multiple locations. However, that’s due to one of the locations being missable.

The first location is inside New Camp. It’s at the top of a crate inside Wolf’s house, on the southern part of the camp. The video below shows a route straight from the entrance of New Camp to Wolf’s House.

While you’re at it, consider talking to Wolf before you steal the book. Wolf sells The Bloodflies, which is another Bestiary book! It’s not an important one, though, as it has no quest.

For the second location of the Bestiary of Khorinis II, you’ll need to go into the Old Mine. The book is inside a chest near where Aleph is. Follow the route shown in the video below to reach it easily.

Note that this location in the Old Mine is missable. If you’ve progressed too far in the story and it’s inaccessible to you, you’ll need to get the book from Wolf’s house.

The Bestiary of Khorinis III

To find this book, go directly southeast of the Old Camp. Go through a narrow crevice by the road there and you’ll end up reaching a cave. As shown in the next video, the book is in a chest inside that cave.

The Bestiary of Khorinis IV

You can get this book near the Swamp Camp. Go south of the Swamp Camp itself to reach Shrat’s house. Enter the house to find the book on a table to your left, as shown in the next clip.

The Bestiary of Khorinis V

You can’t get this book until you progress the story somewhat, requiring you to meet Xardas during Chapter 4. So, keep that in mind if you want to get them all early!

Regardless, you can find this book at Xardas’ tower. It’s at the top of a table near where Xardas usually hangs out in the tower, as shown in the next video.

The Bloodflies (No Quest)

As I mentioned before, you can purchase this book from Wolf inside New Camp. He lives in the house on the southern part of the camp, as shown in the next clip.

Alternatively, you can also purchase this book from Ball Cadar at the Swamp Camp.

While the book isn’t necessary as part of the Bestiary books for Hunting skills, reading it does allow you to collect more trophies from dead Bloodflies.

Fire Lizard Compendium (No Quest)

For this book, you’ll need to go north of the Swamp Camp. You’ll find a cave at the end of the road there, near the eastern cliffs.

Watch out for the nearby Fire Lizards, then go into the cave to grab the book from atop a crate. As usual, the next video shows where to find it.

Much like The Bloodflies, this book isn’t necessary for Hunting skills like the other Bestiary books and has no quest. However, reading it will allow you to gather more trophies from slain Fire Lizards.
