While it may seem fairly straight-forward, some users may have difficulty locating and trying to change the voice or text language and compatibility settings in Tower of Fantasy. This can all be accessed from the in-game ‘Settings’ option.
As Tower of Fantasy is being brought to us by Level Infinite, under Tencent Games, a lot of players diving in (especially those early adapters) may have found their game to be in Chinese and had no option to change it.
How to Change Text and Voice Language Options in Tower of Fantasy
Once you’ve selected the ‘Settings’ menu in the top right-hand corner, simply go down to the “Language” option (at the very bottom) and you’ll see the two dropdown menus under Language settings to change either the in-game “Game text language” and “Game voiceover language.”
You’ll see that shown in the screenshot below.
From the Game text language drop down, you’ll see the options for English – in addition to French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, and others. For game voice-over language, you’ll only have two options – for either English or Japanese. It is unfortunate more options aren’t available, so hopefully Level Infinite plan to steadily introduce more as the game grows!
At this point, the game will be prompted to re-start, and will reload – keep this in mind, as these changes will not take any effect until you actively logout of the game, and try to restart the process by starting it up again.
I Don’t See Any Option to Change the Text Language in Tower of Fantasy – What Should I Do?
For players who seem to find that their in-game text is in Chinese to begin with and do not see any clear option to change it, there are a couple of options for a temporary fix thanks to the Tower of Fantasy fanbase online.
First, ensure Windows or iOS language is set to English and under your corresponding location.
If this still doesn’t fix the issue, you’ll need to modify the game files. To do this, close the game and open your file explorer. Locate the folder for Tower of Fantasy on your PC. From here, go through the folders: -> Tower of Fantasy -> Hotta -> Content -> PatchPaks.
In “PatchPaks,” you’ll notice a file named “MyCultureName” – delete this file. That’s it. Now, re-launch the game and it should be in English. This will only work for English.
Hopefully, Level Infinite address this issue in a future update, in addition to adding more languages for text and voice.
