Song of the Prairie features a large variety of materials, some real and some fantastical. On the fantastical side of the spectrum, we have Iron Star Wood.
This strange black and blue piece of wood is used for some advanced crafting recipes, but it can also be sold for a fairly high price.
If you find yourself in need of this material, this guide will show you how to get it.
How to Get Star Iron Wood in Songs of the Prairie
To get Star Iron Wood, you first need to get access to the Mining Area Station by completing quests.
You also need to get the Axe tool and upgrade it into a Refined Iron Axe. After all, lower-level axes won’t be able to cut down the trees that produce Star Iron Wood!
Once those prerequisites are met, head to the mining area and enter the portal to the Underground World.
Next, make your way to at least Level 2 of the Starting Island’s Shallow Level.
In this area, look for black and blue trees. These are the Star Iron Trees you need to chop down!
Chop them with your Refined Iron Axe until they break down. You should get at least one piece of Iron Star Wood every time you fell one of these trees alongside regular pieces of Lumber.
While it’s likely that Iron Star Trees appear in other places, this is by far the easiest spot to find them. Don’t forget to break the stumps for more lumber, as well.
If you exhaust them and still need more, leave the Underground World and return at a later in-game day. That should reset it, spawning more trees for you to chop down!
That’s all there is to know about getting this rare type of lumber. Make good use of this method to gather as much as you need.
