As your character gets older in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, you might want to start thinking about having a child.
Children can be set as your heir, which will have them inherit your empire once your character dies. This will also allow you to take control of the child, letting you continue the game.
In this guide, we’ll teach you how you can have kids in Bannerlord.
How to Have Kids in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord
To have kids, you first need to get married. For this, you will want to focus on leveling your Charm social stat.
Additionally, one of the first perks for this stat is called “Virile”. Get this perk if you want kids as it will raise your chances of having one by 30%.
It’s even better if you get a spouse that also has this perk, as it will drastically increase the chances of having kids.
Now, you will need to choose a spouse. Just pick any unmarried NPC that you want to court and speak with them. Get to know each other by passing the speech checks in dialogue.
Do note that there’s an age limit for women to get pregnant in the game, however. Women 40 years and older can’t bear children.
Once you know each other enough, you can propose marriage. Then, you will need to speak with the head of the family and get their approval as well.
Alternatively, you can just speak with the head of the family directly and choose to discuss an alliance through marriage. However, you need to have good renown and wealth for this.
How to Bear Children
When you’re finally married, you need to get together with your spouse. Either form a party or assign them to one of your fiefs.
Whichever method you choose, you just need to spend time together in the same location. After some time passes, you should get a notification saying one of you is pregnant.
As long as you spend time with your spouse in a town, there’s a random chance for one of you to bear children. After a couple of seasons or so, your child will then be born!
