Fix Crashing, Fatal Error, Black Screen & Infinite Loading – Final Fantasy VI

Most of the steps in this guide are some of the common steps when trying to load usual Steam games with some minor changes. Check out the steps below and see which one works the best for you!

Verify Integrity of Game Files

Most Steam errors could be solved by simply utilizing what Steam already has in store. This easy step can be made for any game and Final Fantasy VI is no exception.

  1. From your Library, right click on Final Fantasy VI and choose Properties.
  2. Select Local Files.
  3. Select Verify Integrity of Game Files… and let it work it’s magic!

It might take a while to complete but what it does is it finds corrupted files from the first download and replaces them with a fresh batch to hopefully correct this error.

If this doesn’t work for you, check out the next step!

Check if Windows is Updated

Having a well-oiled Operating System is crucial to any game that you’re planning to play. To check if this is the case for Windows, just go to the search bar next to the Windows icon and type in “Check for Updates”

It should then pull up a window that shows you if there are any updates needed for Windows. Do all the updates (your PC might restart for a couple times) then check if the game will run without issues!

Reinstall the Game

If all else fails, one of the most surefire ways of fixing this issue would be to uninstall the game completely and then reinstall a clean copy. This will automatically get rid of all the corrupted files in your first install and correct any errors.

If these steps do not work for you, you can always contact Steam Support for an in-depth look of your system and see why this game won’t launch.
