The release of Season 17: Arsenal for Apex Legends introduced a ton of new content updates, including a new legend in the form of Ballistic.
Ballistic is an assault-type legend who specializes in using as many weapons as possible. However, before you can even get to play him, you should first unlock him in the game.
In this guide, we’ll look at how you can unlock Ballistic, how to play him, and what his abilities are.
How to Play Ballistic in Apex Legends
You can unlock Ballistic for 750 Apex Coins or 12,000 Legend Tokens.
Sadly, there’s no other way to unlock him, so that means you either spend real money or prepare to grind for tokens.
Once you unlocked Ballistic, you can then get to familiarize yourself with his abilities. The majority of Ballistic’s abilities revolve around suppressing enemy teams using his wide arsenal of weapons.
This allows you to play aggressively and engage in gunfights without worrying about running out of firepower. That said, let’s look at all of his abilities below.
Sling (Passive Ability)
Ballistic’s passive ability, Sling, lets him carry up to three weapons which makes him the only legend capable of doing so. You will be able to access this by using Ballistic’s utility action.
This is part of the reason why you can play aggressively as Ballistic since you’ll virtually never run out of firepower. The only downside is that it won’t be able to use any attachments.
Obviously, you can use which weapon you want to place in the third slot. Some of the best possible options would be the HAVOC Rifle or the P2020 pistol.
Whistler (Tactical Ability)
Ballistic’s tactical ability allows you to heat up an enemy’s weapon, causing that weapon to overheat when using it. This can be a pretty useful ability during gunfights as it temporarily disarms your target for a brief period.
Not only that, but it also deals a significant amount of damage. To pull it off, you have to hold the tactical button when using the ability on your target.
Once it’s locked on, your weapon will shoot a guided projectile that grants the debuff on your enemy.
You have to keep in mind that the time it takes for a weapon to overheat will depend on its type. Single-tap weapons will have a faster ramp-up time compared to SMGs and assault rifles.
The debuff will persist for roughly 10 seconds, so if your target is caught in a gunfight, he’ll either have to wait for the debuff to disappear or start shooting and risk getting damaged.
Tempest (Ultimate Ability)
Lastly, we have his ultimate ability which grants nearby allies increased movement speed, faster reload speed, as well as infinite ammo for a certain duration.
The best part is, it also upgrades the weapon in your sling to gold.
This is a pretty useful ability during team fights as it lets your team gain the upper hand due to all the buffs mentioned.
Making the Most Out of Ballistic’s Abilities
With his abilities out of the way, let’s now talk about how you can efficiently play Ballistic during matches.
Ideally, you want to start by putting a weapon with rare attachments in your Sling ability. You also want it to be a hop-up as his Tempest ability will also add gold attachments to it.
As for his tactical ability, you want to use it during team fights when your enemies are pushing aggressively.
This can halt a target’s advances and even put him out of the fight temporarily. Unless, of course, he chooses to fire his weapon, in which case he’ll end up taking damage.
With Ballistic’s abilities, what you have to do is play aggressively all while patiently waiting for the right timing to use your tactical and ultimate abilities.
