Tower of Fantasy not only boasts a robust single-player storyline to complete alone or with friends, but also features a ranked PvP option for those wishing to duke it out online with other competitors.
The Ultimate PvP Guide: All Things Apex League in Tower of Fantasy
While the majority of Tower of Fantasy is centered around PvE content, based primarily on the single-player-driven story of the game – there also exists an exciting PvP element to the game. For those wishing to test their skills against other players online, “Apex League” is a 1v1 PvP game mode available daily after reaching level 30.
Players should note that weapon resonance effects, Simulacrum traits, Matrix effects, and Phantasia are all disabled, while Healing effects are reduced by 50% and all players start with a shield.
Ranked Tower of Fantasy PvP games consist of a 2-point system; this means that you obtain a point if you reduce the opponent’s HP directly or indirectly – and they die. If they die, they will respawn in a random location on the map with full HP, and an increased damage rate of 25%.
Each individual battle lasts for 5 minutes total, and whoever scores 2 points ‘wins.’ If no one scores 2 points in the round, the game will automatically decide the winner at the end of the time limit based upon whoever has more points and HP remaining.
The arena you are contained in will continually shrink down in size, every 75 seconds. If you remain outside of the designated ‘battlefield’ you will receive a debuff that steadily drains your HP.
Tower of Fantasy Apex League Ranking System
Apex League uses a ranking system to determine the player position in the online leaderboard. There are seven different ranks total, with corresponding levels and stars.
Grand Marshall – Highest Tier – Obtain stars for all battles
Battle Lord – 5 Stars; 5 Levels – Accumulate 5 stars and win a battle
Star General – 5 Stars; 5 Levels – Accumulate 5 stars and win a battle
Commander – 4 stars; 4 levels – Accumulate 4 stars and win a battle
Sergeant – 4 stars; 4 levels – Accumulate 4 stars and win a battle
Elite – 3 stars; 3 levels – Accumulate 3 stars and win a battle
Private – 3 stars; 3 levels – Accumulate 3 stars and win a battle
How this works is that you start at the rank of ‘Private’ and 1-star by default. If you ‘win’ and collect all 3 stars for this rank (as indicated 3 stars are required), you advance to the next ‘level’ of the same rank – for Private, there are 3 levels within that ranking. If you win 3 battles as a Private, Rank I, you move on to Private, Rank II. To move up to the next ranking of ‘Elite,’ you will have to win 3 battles as a Private Rank III.
At the same time, if you lose a battle, you lose one star on your ranking. This means, losing a battle as a Private Rank II, you will move down to Private Rank I. The ‘season’ resets the leaderboard, and everyone’s rank will reset, re-leveling the playing field.
At the end of each season, you’ll receive rewards based on your ranking. These include a title corresponding to your rank, an accessory, and 100 Dark Crystals (Private) all the way up to 500 Dark Crystals (Grand Marshall). The Grand Marshall will also receive the “Dush Wheeler” vehicle.
Pairings and Comps for Tower of Fantasy PvP
We’ll go over some of the better characters and relics for PvP content and how to better face off against opponents online so you can quickly climb the ranks.
If you’ve already unlocked ‘Nemesis,’ you’re going to be able to take on much of the competition fairly easily due to the AoE attack – this will force opponents outside of the shrinking arena space which will help to further drain their HP.
Shiro can break an opponent’s shield and slow them down, while Nemesis can negate all debuffs once their weapon charge attack is activated. The Relic ‘Hologram Projector’ will let you recreate your character’s attack, while the ‘Colossus Arm’ can counterattack and help with hit-stun immunity.
This is a Volt DPS pairing, with Nemesis, Shiro, and Samir – using the Hologram Projector and Colossus Arm.
If you’re looking for another pairing that can help with stunning opponents, you can use Shiro, Huma, And Meryl together – Huma’s Molten Shield V2 with her shield/axe combo specialization will allow her to get up close without worrying about safety.
This weapon also perfectly compliments her multi-weapon toolkit, where she’s capable of dishing out hard-hitting moves with her axe, or transforming it into a shield. She’s got a knockdown on skill use, and large AoE damage, which makes her a great option.
Shiro’s “Chakram of the Seas” can deplete your opponent’s shields, while you can then use Huma to defend yourself from opponents using the Colossus Arm.
