Looting is one of the core gameplays of SAND: Raiders of Sophie. While surviving firefights and escaping with your Trampler are important, you also have to place emphasis on looting valuable resources for upgrades and such.

However, if you’re completely new to the game, you might be a bit lost as to which stuff to prioritize looting. As such, this guide is here to help you out. Let’s get started.

Looting Guide for SAND: Raiders of Sophie

Looting Guide for SAND Raiders of Sophie

Before you start looting, it’s important to learn the mechanics of looting in the game first.

Unlike in other games, the looting mechanic in SAND: Raiders of Sophie is a bit different. Instead of simply looting items off the ground or in chests, you need to grab one of those green boxes lying around.

Then, with a green box in hand, simply loot the items that you can see. This will then automatically transfer the loot into the box you’re holding.

It’s worth noting that this is a core gameplay loop in the game. After all, your character has a strictly limited inventory, which means any loot you can find won’t fit in there. You have to find something else to store them, and that’s where the green boxes come into play.

Once a green box is full, you then have to place it on your Trampler. Then rinse and repeat.

With that out of the way, let’s look at some tips that will help improve your looting gameplay in the game.

Prioritize Looting Named POIs

Points of Interest SAND Raiders of Sophie

While you can find lots of loot during expeditions, you should also keep in mind that not every building in Sophie offers the same rewards.

Some random houses and abandoned structures often contain useful supplies, but the largest concentrations of valuable loot are usually found in named Points of Interest scattered across the map.

Some of them include places like Fort Istria, Segen, and Kaizerplats, to name a few. These locations typically feature more containers, safes, weapon lockers, and crafting resources than ordinary buildings.

Because of this, many players plan their entire route around moving from one named POI to the next rather than wandering across open desert in search of random structures.

The caveat is that these areas are also more dangerous. Since higher-quality loot naturally attracts more players, you can expect PvP encounters to be far more common.

Open Every Safe You Come Across

Utility Crate SAND Raiders of Sophie

Safes are among the most rewarding containers you’ll encounter during an expedition.

Compared to ordinary crates, safes typically contain rare valuables, crafting components, and materials that you can’t easily obtain elsewhere. Moreover, there are some safes that reward Coral Chunks, which are required for unlocking various technologies within the game’s Tech Tree.

Since Coral Chunks become increasingly valuable as you progress, opening safes whenever possible helps you advance much faster.

Learn the Game’s Loot Tier System

One of the easiest ways to improve your looting efficiency in the game is learning the different types of containers scattered throughout the world. Not every crate is worth opening if you’re in a dangerous area or racing against other players.

For example, brown crates generally contain common crafting resources, basic consumables, and materials in the early game. While useful when you’re first building up your base, their overall value drops as your progression advances.

Then there are green crates, which often contain higher-quality crafting components, upgraded gear, and better equipment. If you’re limited on time, these are usually worth prioritizing over common containers.

Lastly, we have the red crates which contain experimental weapons, valuable utility items, rare crafting resources, and expensive equipment.

Make sure to open it whenever you encounter one, but make sure to stay alert, as they also attract other players.

Destroy Enemy Tramplers Before You Leave

Enemy Trampler SAND Raiders of Sophie

PvP is part of SAND: Raiders of Sophie.

As such, make sure that you destroy an enemy Trampler after winning the battle and looting it. Don’t make the mistake of just leaving afterward.

In case you’re wondering, destroyed Tramplers can contain some of the most valuable loot currently in the game. You can sell them for a huge amount of money and gain a massive amount of profit from the loot.

Final Thoughts

The looting loop in SAND: Raiders of Sophie is all about making the right decisions under pressure. Every expedition comes with a good balance between risk and reward, and in most cases, you can’t really profit from carrying a lot of items.

Instead, you just have to carry the right ones. By following the guide above, you should be able to get enough loot and resources to help you upgrade your Tech Tree.
