The release of Palworld 1.0 had many people eager to try and play the insanely popular survival and crafting game. At the same time, it also brought back those who played the game many updates prior to the full release.

As such, it’s not surprising that a good portion of them will somewhat struggle to progress through the game. Some might even get stuck in the early portions.

That’s understandable. After all, a LOT has changed since then. So, if you happen to be one of those who find progression a bit tricky, this guide is made for you.

What’s the Best Way to Progress from Level 1 in Palworld 1.0?

To progress smoothly in Palworld 1.0, you have to get the best start possible. Ideally, you want to build your base close to essential resources such as Wood, Stone, and Ore while unlocking the Palbox as early as possible.

Don’t rush bosses, and instead focus on gathering materials, crafting better tools, and spending your Technology Points on useful upgrades that can help improve production and survivability.

Also, get the capture bonus to gain XP as quickly as possible. You can do this by capturing 5 of every Pal species you come across. This way, you can level up quickly as you progress through the early stages of the game.

As you move toward base automation, you then want to spend more time exploring new regions instead of grinding one area. At this point, discovering Fast Travel points, collecting Lifmunk Effigies, catching new Pals, and upgrading your equipment are key.

With those out of the way, let’s look at how you can efficiently progress from the early game all the way to the endgame.

Levels 1 to 10

Levels 1 to 10 Palworld

The first few hours of your playthrough will determine how smoothly the rest of your adventure will go.

As soon as you spawn, start collecting Wood, Stone, Fiber, and Paldium Fragments. These resources allow you to craft your first tools and establish a Palbox, which should be your highest priority.

Once your base is active, start assigning worker Pals to gather resources for you. Also, make sure to spend your Technology Points to unlock essential crafting stations, storage, armor, weapons, and production upgrades first.

When it comes to encountering Pals in the wild, don’t defeat every single one you encounter. Instead, you want to capture them as they will reward significantly more XP this way.

During the first 10 levels, you should already have a balanced workforce consisting of Pals designed for combat, resource gathering, and base automation.

Levels 11 to 20

Levels 11 to 20 Palworld

At these levels, you should be able to comfortably leave the beginner zone after crafting decent gear and a good supply of Pal Spheres.

Ideally, you want to venture into the open world and explore new areas you haven’t been to before. Explore new Fast Travel points, additional Pal species, Alpha Pals, hidden treasure, and valuable resource nodes along the way.

Also, don’t try to perfect your first base immediately. Instead, focus on upgrading your production whenever new crafting stations become available. But at the same time, make sure you explore new regions and catch new Pals you encounter.

You should also make sure to diversify your combat team. The 1.0 version of Palworld puts emphasis on elemental matchups thanks to the combat rebalance, so relying on a single powerful Pal becomes increasingly ineffective.

Levels 21 to 35

Levels 21 to 35 Palworld

When you reach around level 21 or so, you should then start capturing Alpha Pals. That’s because they give tons of XP as well as valuable crafting materials. Of course, most of them are excellent additions to your party.

It’s also at this point that you should start farming Ancient Technology points to unlock higher-tier blueprints for stuff like the Egg Incubator and the Grappling Gun, to name a few. You can farm these points by completing certain encounters like defeating Alpha Pals, world bosses, etc.

You should also start breeding Pals. Don’t focus on getting perfect breeding combinations yet, just enough to produce stronger versions of your worker or combat Pals. This should give you a major boost to your progression.

Continue expanding your Pal collection whenever possible. Even if you don’t plan to use every Pal, many species have excellent base skills that outperform early-game workers.

Levels 36 to 50

Levels 36 to 50 Palworld

Reaching these levels means you’re already at the midgame, and it’s where your resource production starts to ramp up.

You will start unlocking higher-tier blueprints for your armor, weapons, building materials, and other stuff. This also means having to produce and gather way more resources than before, not to mention rarer ones as well.

However, instead of manually gathering the resources yourself, you want to optimize your base’s production chain in a way that your worker Pals can keep producing resources as you go exploring the map.

You should also start targeting Tower Bosses at this point. There are a total of eight of them scattered across the map, and defeating them is part of your main story progression.

Unlike Alpha Pals, these encounters are significantly harder and will require you to exploit their respective weaknesses. For example, Grizzbolt is an Electric-type Pal, making it susceptible to Pals with the Ground element.

It’s worth noting that not all Tower Bosses are created equally. Grizzbolt is the weakest of the bunch with only 12,000 HP, but the rest have significantly larger health pools, especially Shaolong with 327,000.

Needless to say, fighting all of them requires proper preparation and team composition.

Levels 51 and Beyond

Levels 51 and Beyond Palworld

Any level beyond 51 is pretty much entering the endgame territory. However, since the level cap has been increased to 80, it’s going to be a pretty long journey from here. It’s also when Palworld starts to open up considerably.

The full release has introduced the new Sunreach Archipelago which added an even bigger area for you to explore. It also comes with expanded story missions that are centered around the World Tree, new Tower Bosses, Awakening, Mutation, and more.

So, instead of repeatedly farming certain bosses for upgrades like in the Early Access version, you can now progress naturally as you explore the new areas.

Breeding will also be one of the key systems you’ll be interacting with in the endgame. Here, you’ll start optimizing the passive skills for your combat Pals to make them effective in battle.

Awakening is another key system that will help strengthen your Pals even further.

Common Mistakes You Should Avoid Early in the Game

If you’re completely new to Palworld, it’s easy to make mistakes that will drastically slow your progression. In some cases, they might even lead to frustration as you struggle trying to level up your character.

As much as possible, you want to avoid making these mistakes:

  • Knocking down Pals instead of capturing them for bonus experience and new workers
  • Spending Technology Points on unnecessary unlocks instead of essential tools and crafting stations
  • Ignoring base automation and gathering every resource manually
  • Keeping only combat Pals instead of building a team with useful Work Suitabilities
  • Staying in the starting area for too long instead of exploring new regions
  • Challenging Alpha Pals or Tower Bosses before upgrading your gear and team
  • Carrying too many unnecessary items, leaving little inventory space for valuable resources
  • Forgetting to unlock Fast Travel points as you explore
  • Neglecting to upgrade your weapons, armor, and Pal Spheres regularly
  • Building your first base in a poor location with limited access to key resources like Wood, Stone, and Ore

If you manage to avoid making these mistakes, you should be able to have a smooth start and progress efficiently all the way to the endgame.

Final Thoughts

Progressing efficiently in Palworld 1.0 essentially means building a strong foundation instead of rushing to the endgame. Make sure you prioritize capturing new Pals, automate your base as early as possible, keep your equipment up to date, and explore new areas whenever you’re ready.

Avoid common early-game mistakes as much as possible, and you should be able to level faster, gather resources more efficiently, and be well-prepared for the tougher challenges that await later in your adventure.

Good luck!
