The release of Palworld 1.0 introduced 72 new Pals, bringing the grand total to a staggering 287. One of the most sought-after additions is Shaolong, which is also known by many players as the Flying Dragon.
This new Pal features an elegant eastern dragon design which made it an instant fan favorite long before Version 1.0 launched. Now that it’s finally available, players can’t wait to get their hands on it to add it to their Paldeck.
So without further ado, here’s exactly where to find Shaolong and how to catch it.
How and Where to Find Shaolong in Palworld 1.0
Shaolong is a Dragon + Water-type Pal that was introduced in Palworld 1.0. You can find it in the new World Tree area, which is one of the major regions added in the game’s full release.
That said, you can find this new Pal roaming around the areas highlighted in this image:

Unlike many older Pals that spawn throughout Palpagos, Shaolong is an endgame creature that doesn’t appear until you begin exploring the floating islands connected to the World Tree storyline.
To get to this location, you first need to unlock the new World Tree area. You can do this by heading over to the Deserted Islet area which you can find near the Ice Wind Island.

Once you get there, talk to the NPC on the islet, who will then give you the Panthalus main quest as well as the Faded Schematic of the Echoing Flute.
Your next task will be to craft the Echoing Flute, a quest that involves tracking all four giant whale bones throughout the map. After gathering the four Echobones, craft the Echoing Flute in your workbench. Then, give it to the NPC afterward.
Talk to the NPC and access the shrine to the left. This will take you to a boss arena where you have to take down and capture the Legendary Ocean King, Panthalus.

After capturing Panthalus, talk to the NPC again. He will then give you a new quest called To the World Tree. Simply interact with the World Tree terminal to enter the World Tree.
Capturing Shaolong
With the World Tree unlocked, you should now be able to look for Shaolong to attempt to capture it.
Before you do, keep in mind that Shaolong is a high-level Dragon Pal with excellent mobility. Since it spends much of the encounter flying, you’d want to opt for ranged weapons instead.
Once you managed to whittle down its HP, switch to your highest-tier Pal Sphere. Hyper Spheres may work depending on your level, but Ultimate or Legendary-grade spheres provide a significantly higher capture chance against powerful endgame Pals.

I also recommend bringing Ice-type Pals as they perform well against Dragon-types and help shorten the fight.
However, if Shaolong somehow escapes after defeating you or despawns during the fight, simply revisit the spawn area after enough time has passed or reload the region to try again.
Is Shaolong Worth Using?
Personally, yes.
Even though Palworld 1.0 introduced a bunch of powerful new creatures and rebalanced many older favorites, Shaolong is still one of the better Dragon-type options thanks to its combination of mobility, offensive capability, and versatility.
It features strong Dragon-element attacks for late-game encounters, not to mention it boasts excellent movement and aerial traversal. With all that’s been said, capturing Shaolong isn’t really that hard.
Besides, you can actually find a bunch of them in the new area introduced in Palworld 1.0. The only thing you have to worry about is unlocking the new area itself.
