Palworld 1.0 is finally here, and it brought a sweeping list of balance changes and new Pals that no doubt have you wondering what the best team builds are currently.
Weaker Pals got touch-ups and reworks that make them more viable, for one. Of course, we also got around 70 new Pals to consider, giving us a total of 287 Pals. Lots to pick from, and you have to consider how they all synergize together and the like!
In this guide, I’ll help break all of this down by telling you some of the best team builds you can currently use.
Burn Stacks Team – Pure Damage

The very first team I’ll bring to your attention is one that revolves purely around Burn stacks. For that, your main Pal in Renjishi, one of the new Pals added in 1.0.
Renjishi’s Partner Skill, Stage Combat, makes it so that all of your attacks inflict Burn. You get more Burn stacks at higher Pal Ranks, but it’s pretty solid from the get-go.
The second key Pal for this team is Jormuntide Ignis. Its reworked Partner Skill, Stormbringer Lava Dragon, increases the damage your entire team deals to enemies afflicted with Burn.
As you can imagine, the synergy here is pretty powerful, but also simple. Just attack enemies to apply Burn and they’ll then take much more damage. It’s as simple as that!
Another great Pal for this team is Flaracle. Its Partner Skill, Burning Future, creates fire explosions whenever you attack an enemy afflicted with Burn. Great for wiping out groups, but also great for extra single-target damage.
Similarly, Majex is another strong choice for the team here. Attack enemies afflicted with Burn and it will trigger Majex’s Phantasmal Arcana, creating a trail of fire that deals extra damage to enemies.
In summary, the base of this team is the power of Burn stacks. Combine Renjishi and Jormuntide Ignis for devastating effect, then add Flaracle and/or Majex on top for some extra fiery damage!
Soak and Freeze – Strong Crowd Control

This next team is a bit less explosive when it comes to damage. However, it has a strong synergy that allows you to freeze enemies, keeping them from acting. They can’t fight back if they can’t move!
The key Pals for this team are Ophydia and Jormuntide. Ophydia’s Glorious Mist skill makes all of your attacks inflict the Soak effect. Then, Jormuntide’s Stormbringer Seak Dragon increases the damage you deal to enemies afflicted with Soak.
To bring the team together, you’ll then need to add Elgrove Cyst into the mix! Its Partner Skill, Father Winter’s Threat, allows you to Freeze any enemies afflicted with Soak.
This team works particularly well if you use weapons with a high rate of fire. The more you can attack, the more often you can inflict both Soak and Freeze. Although there is a bit of a cooldown where enemies can’t be Frozen.
Nonetheless, this team does ensure that you can keep your enemies Frozen for most of a fight. That said, Freeze itself doesn’t help you deal massive damage, but it does help make fights easier and also boosts your capture rate.
Electrifying Team – Versatile All-Rounder

Can’t pick between the strong damage of the Burn team or the crowd control prowess of the Freeze team? Well, this makes for a perfect in-between!
Your main Pals here are Snock and Slowatt. Snock will make it so all of your attacks inflict Electrify. Once an enemy is Electrified, you can attack them to trigger Slowatt’s Chillswitch, which will create an electrical explosion around the enemy.
Similar to the Burn team, this electrical explosion is both great for dealing with crowds and also deals extra single-target damage. Then, similar to the Freeze team, the Electrify effect will allow you to keep enemies from acting. It’s the best of both worlds!
Thanks to this versatility, this is a powerful team that can allow you to easily clear any enemies and bosses. It just kind of is a great all-rounder, with the only issue being enemies that are immune to Electrify.
Ivy Trap Team – Easy Captures

This next team is one that is fairly similar to the Burn team from earlier. The main difference being, of course, that it’s focused on Grass types!
For this team, you’ll want both Needoll and Needoll Noct. Needoll Noct will allow you to inflict Ivy-Covered stacks with its Partner Skill, Hug You So Much. Then, Needoll will boost the damage you deal to Ivy-Covered enemies with Hug Me Please.
To add extra damage, you’ll want to include Silvance. Its Partner Skill, Spore Stalwart, will cause an explosion whenever you attack Ivy-Covered enemies. Weirdly, it looks like a fiery explosion, despite being Grass-themed!
Now, the last member of this team is Souffline. It has the Fuzzy Fairy Partner Skill, which increases the capture rate of Ivy-Covered Pals.
This is a team that’s quite similar to the Burn team on paper, due to how it works overall. However, it inherently deals a tad less damage, but does allow you to make capturing certain Pals easier. Gotta catch ‘em all, after all.
Toxic Team – Poison and Debuff

This next team is one that’s all about weakening your foe for an easy fight. You’ll Poison them for a strong damage over time, while also weakening their damage output to increase your survivability!
The first key member of this team is Dandilord, one of the new bosses from the World Tree area. Its Partner Skill, Mist Stalwart, is primarily here to allow you to inflict Poison with your attacks.
However, do note that this is an activated Partner Skill. Unlike the other teams in this list, it’s not a passive that works just by having Dandilord in your team!
Regardless, the next two Pals you want here are Prixter and Bakemi. Prixter’s Phantom Venom increases the damage you deal to Poisoned enemies. Conversely, Bakemi’s Grinning Death massively reduces the damage dealt by Poisoned enemies.
It’s worth noting here that Bakemi’s Grinning Death can go up to an 80% attack reduction when at max Rank! This can completely defang even some of the hardest bosses in the game, making it incredible for survivability.
Ultimately, this is a team that has pretty decent damage output, but primarily shines due to survivability. Enemies will barely scratch you once you’ve got all of your effects active!
Fishing Master Team – Easier Fishing

Last but not least, how about a team that’s not at all combat-focused? This team is more for exploration, particularly if you’re planning to engage with the Fishing minigame. It’s a great source of Pals, after all!
The first Pal you want for this team is Whalaska Ignis. It has the Cozy Whale Cruiser Partner Skill. This makes the Fishing minigame start with more progress than usual, and also makes your capture progress increase faster.
Next up, to make Fishing more forgiving, you’ll want Gloopie. It has the Sticky Princess Partner Skill, which reduces how fast the capture gauge decreases when the bars aren’t overlapping.
Then, to make things more rewarding, add Solmora. Thanks to its Partner Skill, Charming Fish, it makes it easier to get Talented Pals while Fishing. From what I can tell, that means more Pals with higher-tier Passive Skills!
Lastly, speaking of more rewards, add Jelliette for its Jelliette Drop Partner Skill. It increases how many items you get when Fishing. Might as well get more for your efforts, right?
Overall, this isn’t a team you take out for fighting. But, if you’re planning to go out fishing for Pals, you’ll be hard-pressed to find something better!
Wrapping Up
So, there you have it! That’s all of the best team builds I’d recommend using in Palworld 1.0. There is quite a lot of variety, so I’m sure at least one of them would fit your needs!
That said, it is admittedly early days for Palworld 1.0. The launch update brought along a lot of balance changes and reworks, so everyone is still figuring out what the absolute best teams are.
With that in mind, I’d recommend just trying to make teams out of your favorite Pals, as almost every one of them seems to be viable currently!
