Ever wanted to build a base right on the water in Palworld? Whether you’re after a unique-looking home, a peaceful spot away from enemies, or just want to try something different, building on water is now a real option and easier than ever.
With the release of Palworld 1.0, it’s now officially possible to build on water without relying on awkward workarounds. In this guide, I’ll show you exactly how to build a floating base and explain what changed in the update. Keep reading, and you’ll have your own waterfront base up and running in no time.
Building a Base on Water
Before the Palworld 1.0 update, building on water was very limited. You could sometimes get away with placing foundations in very shallow water by taking advantage of certain terrain, but it wasn’t an officially supported feature and only worked in a handful of locations.
With Patch 1.0, that’s no longer the case. The developers have officially introduced water building, making it possible to construct bases along shorelines, lakes, rivers, and even out at sea without relying on building tricks or exploits.
To start building on water, you’ll first need to unlock the Aquatic Construction Kit from the Ancient Technology tree. This is a Key Item that allows you to place foundations directly on water, opening up countless new possibilities for creative base designs.
The Aquatic Construction Kit becomes available at Level 66 and requires 4 Ancient Technology Points to unlock. Once you’ve unlocked the technology, you’ll need the following materials to craft it:
- 200 Cement
- 50 Coralum Ingots
- 100 High Quality Wooden Boards
After crafting the Aquatic Construction Kit, you’ll be able to place foundations on water just as you would on land. This makes building docks, floating bases, island outposts, and even large structures in the middle of the ocean much easier than ever before.

That’s It
That wraps up everything you need to know about building on water in Palworld 1.0. While the Aquatic Construction Kit is definitely an endgame unlock at Level 66, it’s well worth the wait if you enjoy building. It opens up a whole new range of possibilities that simply weren’t available before, letting you create everything from peaceful lakeside homes to massive floating bases out at sea.
