For this guide, we will be talking about the different characters that you can play with in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. These are Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Edge, Bowser, and the Rabbid variants of Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Rosalina.

All these characters have different sets of skills and abilities that you can experiment with during the battle. When used properly and wisely, you can spark collateral damage to enemies.

Now, enough with the introduction and let’s get into it.

Mario

Our main character, Mario uses a medium-range dual-slinger firearm on the battlefield. He has a good set of weapons as you can aim at two different enemies at once, regardless of their location.

For his main active ability, Hero Sight, he can passively detect the movement of enemies within range. Once an enemy crosses his line of sight, Mario will deal +100 damage to his attack plus any Super Effects added. This skill has two charges.

Moving on to his skill tree, the first one that you have to save up for is the Jump Shot from Weapon. This skill allows you to land an attack on enemies while gliding in the air, plus its 50% damage.

The next two will be Stomp, and Stomp & Glide which are both in the Movement. Basically, these two skills allow Mario to stomp on enemies head, and bounce back up for another glide.

Using all these three together, Mario will be an unstoppable force both from the air and on the ground, making him a versatile character.

Rabbid Mario

This dude has the Dukes! The metal gauntlets make Rabbid Mario a fierce character. What makes this awesome is that it can punch obstacles and cover while also dealing damage to the enemies in its range.

Rabbid Mario’s active ability is Counter Blow which immediately deals counterattack to all enemies in the range that wield weapons.

In his skill tree, unlock Punch Frenzy in Weapon, Area Dash, and Area Dash Movement in Movement.

Luigi

Our Luigi here is a bow user with accurate shots. He is best used when far from enemies as his damage decreases as he comes close to his targets.

Luigi’s main ability is Steely Stare. This is somehow the same as Mario’s ability but with a wider range. This ability charges three times at the enemy.

With these weapons and abilities, Luigi is already a strong character. But you can make him stronger with the correct skills you unlock in his skill tree.

Unlock first the High Ground in Weapon. This gives him a +100% critical chance when he is positioned on the high grounds.

The next two will be the Ghost Bullet and the Additional Steely Stare Charge both in the Technique. The Ghost Bullet allows his arrows to pass through any obstacles until they reach the target enemy.

With all these skills, no enemy can hide from the sharp eye of the sharpshooter, Luigi.

Rabbid Luigi

Rabbid Luigi has a funny yet dangerous frisbee that can be thrown at an enemy and bounces off to another enemy in the range. This can hit up to seven targets in one throw.

His active ability is called Exhaust. Any enemies that can be hit by the exhaust are marked by a broken sword which means they are weakened and their outgoing damage is reduced.

In his skill tree, consider unlocking the Discruptor Ricochet Distance and Discruptor Chained Targets + in Weapon.

Princess Peach

Next up is the sweet, but deadly Princess Peach who has a Boom-brella. This weapon, basically, allows her to deal burst damage to the enemies in a fan-shaped area. This works like a shotgun–highest damage on the closes enemies, and lowest to the farthest enemies.

For her active ability, Team Barrier gives protection to all allies inside the range of her skill. This skill can be cast four times.

To make her even stronger, unlock Team Barrier Charge in the Technique, and then the Barrier Jump Assist in the Movement. With this combination, Peach can jump on an ally’s head to glide in the air. However, it doesn’t just give a boost to her, but also to her teammate. With the Barrier Jump Assist, Peach will grant another shield to her ally that will boost her to glide.

As you can see, Princess Peach is no longer a damsel in distress in the game but is very good support and front-line.

Rabbid Princess Peach

This Rabbit Princess peach has a weapon that mimics the nature of a homing missile. Upon target locking an enemy, Rabbid Princess Peach will fire three, small rockets upward that will launch straight at the target enemy.

Her active ability is Heal which gives 30% HP to all allies inside her range.

Unlock the Healing Jump in her skill tree for bonus healing ability. Jump on a teammate’s head and cast your Heal while in the air. This will give you additional healing for everyone.

Edge

Another lady on the battlefield is Edge. Her weapon is a gigantic blade that you can shoot in a straight, forward direction that will boomerang back to you. This is a highly effective weapon in clearing groups of enemies in one location.

Edge’s active ability is called Stormblade. She will use her speed and blades to clear all the enemies in the surroundings that are inside her range. However, this skill only has one charge.

To give her some buffs, get the Extra Dash, Dash Increments Movement, and Critical Dash all in the Movement. With all these upgrades, speed will be her edge among her enemies.

With her extreme movement damage and flying blades, Edge can be a good character for both melee and long-range battles.

Bowser

The enemy-to-team character is Bowser. He has a bazooka that deals great damage to enemies and ignores partial cover.

His active ability is Rabbid Mechakoopas. Bowser summons five Rabbid Mechakoopas that charge toward the enemies and explodes upon contact.

To make Bowser even better, get the Demolisher in Weapon. This allows Bowser to shoot at covers to expose the enemies hiding behind them. This also melts the defenses of the enemies in the surrounding area. Plus, unlock also the Rabbid Mechakoopas Number in Technique.

Rabbid Rosalina

Rabbid Rosalina has the Kaboomer which shoots several rapid-fire projectile attacks at an enemy. This is effective for both short and long-distance attacks.

Her active ability is the Ennui. Enemies that are struck will be under the stasis effect which will make it easier for her to deal damage using her straight burst shots.

Get the Ennui Dash and Wakeup Slap in her skill tree. Enemies are also inflicted with the stasis effect once Rabbid Rosalina dashes over them.
