Monster Hunter Wilds, just like other games in the franchise, lets you use a wide range of tools both in and out of combat for varying resource collection methods. In this game, you are given a capture net that can be used for catching small creatures that you might need for certain side quests and more. In this guide, we will go through how you can actually use the net out in the field.
How to Use the Capture Net
First of all, make sure that your capture net is currently equipped in the item bar so that you can actually throw it out and grab little critters in the wild. Now, while it is equipped, just aim your slinger.
Instead of the slinger, you will notice a different crosshair on your screen as you are now using the capture net. Now, just fire like you normally would and your character should cast the net at wherever you are aiming.
Depending on your inputs, this can be aimed by default with either the right mouse button or the left trigger button of your controller. While holding this, you just need to use whichever button is set to fire to use the net.
Now that you know how to do it, you should now be able to complete certain side quests that require you to capture small insects or even creatures that are completely passive and are not caught like the big monsters.
For example, you will need to do this for those research report side quests. While you are still here, go and check out our guide on how to capture a Gillopod for the Dareel’s Special Research Report side quest. This, just like the ones that came before it, will require the use of a capture net and can be completed in just a minute or two if you know what to do.
