If you already reached High Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll find yourself wondering how to get Low Rank materials again.
The moment you start Chapter 4 and enter High Rank, every region in Wilds changes to High Rank. That means there are stronger monsters and rarer materials, which is nice. However, it comes at the cost of making you unable to get the Low Rank materials anymore! This is particularly awful if you’re a completionist.
Thankfully, there’s a way to temporarily revert regions to their Low Rank variant. Read on and we’ll tell you how!
How To Get Low Rank Materials | Monster Hunter Wilds
As of this writing, the only way to get Low Rank materials in Monster Hunter Wilds after reaching High Rank is to do optional quests. Simply talk to Alma or check the Quest Board and select “Post/Join Quests.”
Then, go to the “Optional Quests” category.
Now, you just need to find a quest that’s for the area or monster you want and is also Low Rank. You can tell that a quest is Low Rank by the blue star icon on the top right of its preview. Their level also goes from 1 to 3. Any quest that has an orange star and is level 4 or higher is High Rank.
Once you’ve found the quest you wanted, simply select “Accept and Depart” to go to its area. This will bring you to a Low Rank variant of whichever area you choose. However, this is temporary and only lasts until you finish the quest.
Aside from this trick, there’s no permanent way to switch areas back to their Low Rank version once you start Chapter 4 and reach High Rank. We hope this is added later on via updates, but nothing has been announced so far.
Nonetheless, at least you can use these Low Rank Optional Quests as a workaround in the meantime! Make good use of this to be able to get any Low Rank materials you need even after you’ve hit the High Rank cutoff.
