Dual Blades are one of the most fun weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds, but it’s important to know what to look for when leveling and progressing with them.

The main appeal of the Dual Blades is that they are extremely fast. You can dish out consistent damage a lot faster than other types, all while remaining extremely agile. Sure, each individual hit is rather weak, but death by a thousand cuts works great in this game!

If you’re eager to main the speedy Dual Blades, read on. We’ll tell you what to focus on at each step of progression.

Dual Blades Leveling and Progression Guide | Monster Hunter Wilds

Early Low Rank

In the early Low Rank part of the game, you don’t really have many options. You will simply want to focus on trying to obtain two different elemental Dual Blades, as follows:

  • Quematrice Silexes (Fire) – Part of the Hope Daggers weapon tree. As the name implies, you can make it out of Quematrice parts. Stick to the Hope Daggers until you can farm that monster, then get this weapon.
  • Uth Ngarpatu (Water) – You can get this as part of the Bone Hatches weapon tree. It requires you to farm the Uth Duna monster for parts. This is meant to be a backup weapon primarily. Use it when you’re fighting monsters that are weak to Water or are simply resilient to the Fire damage from your Quematrice Silexes.

As for armor, it’s thankfully a tad simpler. You mostly want to focus on armor that gives you the Marathon Runner Skill. This skill decreases the amount of Stamina you consume, making it ideal for Dual Blades. Here’s an example of an armor setup to use:

  • Bone Helm
  • Bone Mail
  • Hope Vambraces
  • Bone Coil
  • Hope Greaves

You can use whichever Talismans, Decorations, and Mantles you wish. We recommend picking ones that bolster Defense or just fit your persona play style.

Mid Low Rank

As you progress through the game, you will eventually meet a monster called Lala Barina. Once you do, you want to farm it to be able to craft the Barina Faucilles Dual Blades with its materials. Those are part of the Bone Hatchets weapon tree.

The main thing that makes the Barina Faucilles line of Dual Blades desirable is their Paralysis element. This allows you to completely stun monsters for a period of time, giving you a huge chance to dish out insane damage. It’s even better if you’re playing multiplayer!

Alternatively, you can also make the Ajara Twin Edges from Ajarakan’s parts. They’re also part of the Bone Hatchets weapon tree. They don’t apply Paralysis, but deal more raw damage through their Blast element.

As for armor, there are actually multiple viable options available to you, depending on play style. We don’t recommend specifically farming for them at this point, though, just use what you can get. Here are the recommended sets:

  • Guardian Ebony – Has the Burst Skill, which gradually increases your damage as you land continuous hits. The set’s effect further boosts Burst’s power.
  • Guardian Rathalos – Its Weakness Exploit Skill increases your Affinity whenever you hit weaknesses and wounds. The set effect gives you a passive chance to deal bonus Fire damage.
  • Rey Dau – Has the Latent Power Skill, which is further bolstered by Rey Dau’s Voltage armor set effect. Latent Power triggers when you’re at low health or after 120 seconds pass during a fight. It gives a large Affinity boost and reduces Stamina consumption. The effect lasts up to 210 seconds with 4 pieces of the Rey Dau set.
  • Xu Wu – Comes with the Stamina Surge Skill, which buffs your Stamina Recovery speed. Also has the Maximum Might Skill, which boosts Affinity when you’re at full Stamina.

High Rank and Beyond

Things become a bit simpler again when it comes to leveling and progressing your Dual Blades once you reach High Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds. This is mainly because your main focus now should be to get Artian Weapons.

Due to their high amount of customization, you can pretty much make Artian Dual Blades that fit whatever role you want and outclass the regular monster-based weapons. You simply want to work towards making the Rarity 8 Artian Dual Blades, called Tiltkreise.

To know more about these weapons, check out our full Artian Weapons guide. It’s also highly recommended to check out our guide on how to get higher-tier Artian Weapon Parts.

While you get there, however, your best bet is to continue upgrading the Barina Faucilles from Lala Barina’s weapon tree. The Lala Harpactirs are the final tier of that weapon tree, and their high Paralysis element makes them the best monster-based Dual Blades.

As for armor, everything we talked about in the Mid Low Rank section still applies, more or less. You still want the Guardian Ebony, Guardian Rathalos, Rey Dau, and Xu Wu sets. Your Decorations, Talisman, and Mantle should be ones that focus on the Skills provided by whichever sets (or combinations of sets) you favor.

The only difference is that you want to get the High Rank variants of those same armor sets. Those High Rank versions are denoted as either Alpha or Beta. Just note that Alpha and Beta variants have different pros and cons, which will depend on your playstyle.

That’s the end of our leveling and progression guide for the Dual Blades in Monster Hunter Wilds. You should now know what equipment to look out for in each part of the game. Best of luck farming for the materials!
