Monster Hunter Wilds has a whole lot of side quests for you to complete, especially once you unlock the high rank stuff following the relatively long main story stuff. Among the side quests you can take on are research reports for Dareel, and in this guide, we will go through the steps you need to take for one of them. Specifically, we will be covering the part where you have to capture a Gillopod for him.
Capture a Gillopod Location (Dareel’s Special Research Report)
Although this side quest in particular does not require you to finish the story first, it does require you to be at a point where you are almost done with it. Basically, you will be able to look for Gillopods at the area known as the Ruins of Wyveria, which is fairly late into the low rank main story stuff.
Fast travel to this zone, specifically at the base camp for this region. Once there, all you have to do is head out, quite literally just outside the camp area. Here, you hopefully be able to find at least a single Gillopod crawling around.
For reference, check the map image below to see where you can find them just outside the camp. An example of a Gillopod is also highlighted beside it, and there are plenty of similar creatures stuck to the walls here.
One thing to note is that Gillopods are not common. These are merely a special type of Pillopod, which are the smaller versions you see hanging out in the same spawn locations on walls. Gillopods are larger than the average Pillopod, making them easy to distinguish from their inferior peers.
If you cannot seem to find any, you can try fast traveling back and forth between areas or resting at a tent if you have the option to do so. This should hopefully force them to respawn and, if you are lucky, a Gillopod should appear in one of their spawn points. Use your Capture Net to grab it and complete the quest!
Franco is a writer and avid gamer who spends a lot of his free time looking for the next obscure indie roguelike to add to his collection. If he’s not busy working or writing on his personal blog, there’s also a non-zero chance that you stumble into him in pretty much any multiplayer game that has SEA or OCE servers. He’s pretty good at anything unless it’s a fighting game, in which case you’d probably body him.
