Forgotten Saga is the latest major content update that’s been added to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It’s been teased for quite a while now, so it’s not surprising that a lot of players are excited to find out what it has to offer.

This update is special in a way that it’s basically a roguelite game mode in a new mini-world that offers a variety of new stuff to discover. If you’re raring to go head into the game, then you might want to learn some important things first.

In this article, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about the Forgotten Saga update and more.

Everything You Need to Know in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Forgotten Saga

First things first: what is the Forgotten Saga? Aside from being a new major update, the Forgotten Saga is a new quest chain where you play as Odin himself and journey across the dream world of Niflheim. The Forgotten Saga itself is the name of the new story arc and the game mode in which you begin from the start each time you die.

However, there’s an added twist. Each time you die, you will also end up losing your current gear. But in return, you will get new gear and abilities, as well as new perks and currency, which you can then use to upgrade your character. As a result, you’ll end up having better chances of clearing your next playthrough.

Now, let’s get to the other parts of the update that you should know about.

Starting the Forgotten Saga

To start the quest chain, you should first head over to Asgard at least once. To do this, you need to reach Settlement Level 3 and build the Seer’s Hut in Ravensthorpe. After fulfilling this requirement, you should then gather the plant which Valka requested. This is part of the In Dreams quest. After collecting the plant, you should then drink the potion so you can travel to Asgard.

Upon arriving at Asgard, you’ll then receive the “A Gift from the Otherworld” quest which is what you need in order to head over to Niflheim. The quest starts by telling you to visit Everold who is a new craftsman that you can find at the quest waypoint in Ravensthorpe.

Talk to him to trigger a cutscene that will show the construction of a new workshop. Once the new workshop is built, head inside the building to find another potion which you should interact with. After interacting with the potion, a cutscene will play which will cause you to wake up at Odin’s Camp.

After this, all you need to do is jump on the ledge to start the newest game mode.

Starting Equipment

Upon starting the game mode, you won’t be taking your equipment with you. Since you will be playing as Odin, you will be using new starting equipment instead. You will start with some basic equipment such as a bow, a short sword, armor, a shield, and a basic ranged ability.

As you go through many runs, you will be able to upgrade your loadout which lets you further improve your chances of survival. You will also come across chests that will contain rewards, but you can only pick one of them.

Vast, New World to Explore

The realm of Niflheim is vast, not to mention harsh. However, you will be rewarded for your exploration. As you go through various zones in the realm, you will encounter lots of enemies who will attack you on sight. Also, each zone will have its own unique enemy which you have to overcome in order to move forward.

As you explore these new lands, you will come across rewards that will grant you perks, new gear, as well as unique abilities that will help you tackle even harder enemies. You can even encounter NPCs that will provide you with optional side quests for some rewards.

Do note, however, that you won’t be able to complete all of these side quests in a single run. In fact, the content encourages you to go through multiple runs in order to do so.

Upgrading Yourself

Each run will let you earn a new, exclusive currency that you can use to upgrade Odin. Aside from that, you can also use it to buy new perks and abilities. Both of them will vastly improve your overall combat power. There are also new raven skins, mounts, and tattoos available in Ravensthorpe, all purchasable using this new currency.

If you’re successful in defeating the ultimate challenge which is Hel herself, you will get a new and unique gear set which you can then use in your journey across England.
