Palworld is set to release on January 19th, 2024. This survival, monster-catching, and crafting game encompasses mechanics from various genres to create something new and exciting for gamers to enjoy.

Unusual as it may be, the game offers you two choices. Either live peacefully alongside these mysterious creatures known as Pals or embark on a path of righteousness and fight off an evil poaching syndicate. The choice is yours!

In today’s guide, we’ll go over the basics such as your Base, Eggs, Mounts, Jobs, and everything in between to get you started in Palworld. So without further ado, let’s get started!

Mounts & Pals

This game is designed so that you can pick and choose certain companions, Pals to accompany you on your journey in this open world. To get around easier, you’ll need a mount. Mounts, as is the case with many things in this game, is your Pal.

One of the very first Pals we recommend you take with you is called Rushoar. Rushoar is easy to get early on and he has a few cool abilities that will help you early on in the game. One of such abilities is his ram dash (runs into things like Oryx from R6) allowing you to instantly mine resources.

If this wasn’t enough to get you hooked, keep in mind that while mounted, you can use your weapon and cast capture spheres at your targets. This makes the Rushoar one versatile Pal capable of giving you a significant advantage early on in the game.

How to get Rushoar?

From your starting location, you will need to head northwest and scour the area until you bump into a Rushoar. Now comes the hard part…

Capturing Pals in Palworld can be done in a few different ways. Obviously, your first option is to take down their health bar. Alternatively, you can opt for a stealthier approach and take the Pal on from the back giving you a higher success percentage and a higher capturing bonus. Do whichever option you are most comfortable with.

Do note that in order to use his Hard Head ability, you need to unlock it first. This is done via the progression tree and can be found under level 6.

Trapper Man

Another useful tip worth noting is the fact that you can lay down traps to make capturing Pals safer, easier and faster.

Open up your player menu and go to Defenses. Here you will see all of the traps you have available and these will trap different types of Pals. From here, casting capture spheres has a significantly higher chance of capturing Pals.

Alternatively, you can again bring their health down and then cast a capture sphere thus further increasing your capture chances.

Don’t worry about wasting resources on traps. If left unused, you can always disassemble them.

Base Guide

There are two vital resources you need to establish as soon as you start building your base, the Logging Base and a Stone Pit. Once placed, these will collect stone and wood automatically, without you having to interact with it whatsoever.

Useful tip: place one storage chest right in between the Logging Base and the Stone Pit. This will allow you to quickly store your resources as you are pretty much unable to move when overburdened.

Pal Assignments

If not assigned to a specific job manually, you Pals will do the jobs they are good at. For example logging. What we recommend doing is assigning your Pals where you need them the most. This can be done by picking them up.

Yes, you heard it right. Pick up the creature and toss it towards the area where you want it to work in. For example pick up one creature and toss it to a Logging Pit, this will then assign the creature to that pit permanently.

One useful base job which most players overlook is defense lookout. Your base will get attacked by “Fan Girls Who Can’t Contain Their Love” from time to time. We don’t make the rules here…

This is why you need to set up appropriate defenses and assign a Pal to be in that defensive structure permanently.

Sleeping Pals

Like everyone, your Pals need a place to sleep and food to eat. This is why you need to build an adequate number of beds and a feed box to keep your Pals fed. Make sure the feed box contains food within.

Eggs

By now you have most certainly noticed that this game has eggs and incubators for these eggs to hatch. These eggs give you Pals, and each egg has different requirements which you need to accommodate for it to hatch faster.

For example, an egg might need warmth to hatch faster. This is then done by building a fire pit next to it thus reducing the time it takes for the egg to hatch.

Ammo

Ammo in Palworld is notoriously difficult to craft as you need enormous quantities of it. A useful trick for making it easier for yourself is to capture Ribbuny and permanently assign it to one of your weapon workbenches.

Their skill, Skilled Fingers, increases work efficiency when working at the weapon workbench for example. So when you go out venturing, you will find a hefty stockpile of ammo when you come back.

To find Ribbuny, head northwest, northeast, or southwest as indicated in the screenshot below.

Combat Pals

In the next section, we’ll go over some of the best combat pals to get and why you should get them. Starting off, we have Foxparks. Perhaps one of the most iconic Pals in Palworld, you can pick up this creature and use it as a flamethrower. Literally.

To find Foxparks, head over to the highlighted area as shown in the screenshot below.

Up next we have Lifmunk. This creature gives you an assault rifle that shoots while mounted on your head. You simply have to hold attack and Lifmunk will keep firing its weapon wherever you aim.

To get this Pal, you will need to head northeast from your starting location as indicated in the screenshot below.

Flying Pals

Nitewing is perhaps the best flying pal you can get early on as it allows you to get around much easier and reach certain locations on the map. To get this pal, head either northeast or northwest as these can be found pretty much anywhere.

Do note that you will need to unlock their saddle in the tech tree which is at level 15.

Nitewing locations

Galeclaw is an amazing Pal to get, especially as it allows you to cast one other creature in combat and still use it as a glider. This means that you are much faster and agile, capable of getting to different points quicker.

While gliding, you can also shoot. To get this Pal you need to head northeast and hope to run into one. These are significantly more difficult to obtain than is the case with Nitewing. You also need to progress them to level 23 to be able to use their glide ability.

Ranch

There is a mechanic in Palworld which can be used purely for farming items. Namely, you can build a ranch. Creatures with farming work suitability, when placed into this ranch will drop some of their special items.

Alternatively, you can use the Meat Cleaver to butcher the creature and gain double of anything the creature usually drops.

Elemental Mounts

In the game, there are several elemental mounts you can use. When mounted, your regular attacks become boosted with whichever element the mount is. For example fire. Thus your regular attacks now deal fire damage as well.

This is very useful when you want to exploit a boss’ weakness and win boss fights more easily.
