For this guide, I’ll walk you through a more effective approach to the Stronger Sandworm Exploration Codex in the Sandworm Lair location in Stonegard of Throne & Liberty. I’ll also be including a solution for those confused about placing a totem after defeating the Chief Sandworm. Now, let’s jump into the process.

Stronger Sandworm Exploration Codex

You’ll first have to encounter 25 Worker Spiders and Rhino crabs (or scarabs), which you must defeat before finding the sign or totem. You can find all over the Sandworm Lair area.

I’ve seen many players, me included, confused about where and how to place the totem before defeating the sandworm. The phrase “place a totem” is a bit misleading. What you actually need to do is interact with a sign located in one of the blue-circled areas on your map.

Here’s a quick rundown of how to place the totem:

• Before defeating the sandworm, head outside the cave—the location is not within the cave itself.
• Go to the eastern gathering waypoint, then face north and follow the left wall.
• Move under the rock bridge, turn right, and go up the hill. At the top, you’ll see a small hook-like structure.
• Continue straight until you see two flags—look down into the gully from there. You should see the prompt to “place emblems” or something similar. Simply interact with it by pressing F.

Once you’ve handled that, it’s time to track down the Chief Sandworm. Sandworms spawn in various areas, so you may need to move around. I recommend going under the bridge-like structure as shown in the image below and inside the hole you see on your left. But ultimately, you’ll have to check your minimap to see where the Bone icon shows up (That’s the Chief Sandworm!).

After you find the Sandworm, prepare for a tough but manageable fight. Once defeated, you won’t need to collect anything from the Chief Sandworm itself, so I recommend that you go for quick exit out of there.

If you’re still having trouble, remember that the blue-circled areas on your map indicate where to interact with the sign or Totem. Once you press F, the task should be completed.
