Traps can be really annoying in Darkest Dungeon. Not only do they deal percent-based damage, but they can also inflict stress on your party. As such, disarming them whenever possible is highly recommended.
If you’ve played a good amount of Darkest Dungeon, you might have already come across areas littered with traps. Not only are these traps annoying because they deal damage equal to a percentage of one of your hero’s max HP, but they can also inflict stress on a random hero.
As such, you’ll want to make sure to disarm them first before your entire party walks over them. If you don’t know how, then this guide is for you.
How to Disarm Traps in Darkest Dungeon
Traps will normally trigger once your party walks over them. If you’re lucky, your entire party will be able to dodge it, though the chance of it happening will depend on a hero’s Trap Resist stat. As such, you’ll want to avoid walking over traps in the first place by scouting the area you’re venturing to.
However, there are situations in which you have no other choice but to go past them. This is where disarming them becomes necessary. To disarm a trap, you’ll have to get close to it until you can see a prompt allowing you to disarm it. The button will depend on which platform you’re playing the game on.
Here’s the problem: even if you disarm a trap, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will disarm it. It’s actually still chance-based depending on the Disarm chance of the hero you used to disarm it. On average, most heroes will have a base 10% Disarm chance while heroes like Houndmaster, Highwayman, and Bounty Hunter have a 40% chance of succeeding.
By far, the hero with the highest Disarm chance is Grave Robber at 50%. In other words, disarming traps isn’t really a guaranteed thing even if you click the button. However, it does increase your chances of avoiding damage and stress from accidentally springing traps while walking around the dungeons.
