Putting your Pals to work for you is one of the most important aspects of Palworld, and you can even make an automated ore farming base thanks to these little guys.
You’ll need thousands of ore chunks for Ingots when building, so you should get this automated base set up ASAP!
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to set up a base so that your Pals automatically farm ore nodes for you.
How to Build an Automated Ore Farming
While we already know where to get ore, you will want to focus on different spots than we’ve previously shown if you want to make an automated ore-farming base.
Instead, you will want to go to one of the 4 hotspots marked on the map above. All credits for this map go to Boomstick Gaming on YouTube!
These 4 spots have a ridiculous amount of ore nodes all bunched up together. This is ideal because you can build a Palbox in the middle and get all ore nodes within your base’s range.
This will, in turn, make all of your mining Pals focus on just mining these nodes.
If you already set up one base in another ideal spot and leveled it up to 10, you should be able to set up 2 bases. In that case, you will want to make this ore-farming base just for ores.
This will make it much easier to keep running, as your Pals will have no other tasks to focus on.
It’s also a good idea to set up a single chest next to the Palbox. This chest will hold all of the ore farmed by your Pals and should be close enough for you to use the Palbox for Fast Travel.
This is necessary to transport the ore to your main base because ore is extremely heavy and will prevent you from walking at all if you pick it all up at once.
On that note, you should have a chest close to your main base’s Palbox as well. You will deposit the ore there after you Fast Travel.
Setting Up The Base
Since we’ve established that this base will be purely for farming ore, you will only want to build a couple of things.
You’ll need the singular Palbox and chest, as we mentioned before, as well as beds for all of your Pals. On top of that, place one Feed Box and fill it with food for your Pals to eat when they get hungry.
As for your Pals, you will want to have only Pals with a Work Suitability stat for Mining, except one. The final slot will be reserved for any Pal that has the Transporting stat instead.
For example, you will have 9 Mining Pals and 1 Transporting Pal.
The transporting Pal will pick up all the broken ore chunks the mining Pals leave behind and put them in the chest for you.
As for the Mining Pals, the best ones to get are Tombat, Digtoise, and Damud.
Digtoise and Damud are very easy to find in the northwestern desert area, around where you can find the Anubis boss Pal.
Tombat, on the other hand, is extremely common in most places of the world but is only found at night. The image above shows its habitats on the Paldeck.
Make sure to capture as many of them as you need to nearly fill your base, just remember to leave one slot open for a Transporting Pal.
As for the Transporting Pal, Cattiva is probably your best bet. They’re common all over the starting area, and you most likely have a dozen of them by now!
Making it Automated
If you want to make the base fully self-sufficient, you should also add a Berry Plantation to the base.
You will, however, need to replace one of your Mining Pals with ones that have the Planting and Watering stats.
Though, thankfully, Damuds can double as Watering and Mining Pals if you have them already.
This will slow down the mining slightly, but you will never have to manually provide food to your Pals. It cuts down on your own manual labor by leaving it up to your Pals!
Additionally, it’s a good idea to build a couple of Hot Springs in the base. They will provide extra relaxation to your Pals, keeping their Sanity in check as they grind away at the ore nodes.
This step is completely optional, though, but it can make things easier for you in the long run.
