Palworld: Offline and Online Play – Which is Best?

Palworld allows us to explore a charming world full of creatures, either in Offline single-player or Online multiplayer. But, what are the pros and cons of both?

Is it also necessary to commit to either one, or do you get to swap between modes seamlessly? After all, we don’t always want to play just single-player or just multiplayer!

In this article, we look at everything there is to know about Palworld’s offline and online modes.

Offline vs Online Play

The truth of the matter is that both Offline and Online play modes are great choices in Palworld.

The game is designed to be played as both a single-player game and a multiplayer one, so you can’t go wrong with either choice.

That said, playing in offline single-player will of course give you full control over everything in your world.

You can build whatever you want wherever you want, and you don’t need to take other players into consideration!

All resources and Pals will be entirely yours, with no need to share them with others. It also allows you to challenge every enemy in the game without relying on others’ help, if that’s your thing!

Should you change your mind about playing solo, you can go online and open up your own world to friends. This allows you to invite up to 3 other players!

This allows you to partake in jolly co-operation whenever you want, while still allowing you to keep full control of your world while offline.

You also get to keep your character’s progression this way, since it’s tied to your own world.

That said, you won’t get to bring your character with you when you join someone else’s world or server. It’s the biggest limitation the game has, at least on release.

How Online Play Works

On the other end of the spectrum, there are dedicated servers as well. These worlds are online 24/7 and can host up to 32 players, instead of the usual 4-player cap.

What’s more, it seems that the game will feature crossplay at launch. It should be pretty easy to find others to play with, at least!

The biggest downside to dedicated servers is that they can fill up, preventing you from joining them whenever you want.

On top of that, your character is specific to each world, so you can’t carry your progress across servers! This includes not being able to use your online character in offline play, sadly.

Nonetheless, online play is still fantastic if you prefer having a sense of community as you and other players work together to beat the game.

PvP will also be available later down the line, which we’re sure a lot of the player base will love to focus on. Just imagine the crazy 16 vs 16 battles that could take place in this game!

So, as you can see, both Offline and Online play are extremely viable in Palworld. That said… the big issue right now is the limitation on progress transfer across servers.

Due to that reason alone, we highly recommend hosting your own world when you play Palworld.

This gives you the most control since you can play solo anytime or invite your friends when you want to play online. You get the best of both worlds at your own leisure that way!
