There is nothing worse than experiencing your game crashing after spending hours downloading and installing it. Apex Legends unfortunately is a game with which this happens quite often.

Players from around the world report having this issue from time to time. As such, we felt the patriotic duty to bring you the best fixes for this issue. Dive on in as we explore the 3 simple ways in which you can fix your game!

PC Fix

To start this guide, we’ll first cover the fixes you can try for those using PCs or laptops.

Graphics Driver

Perhaps one of the most common issues with Apex Legends, players often forget to update their graphics drivers. To do this, simply follow these steps:

  • Navigate to the Windows Start Menu and type in “Device Manager”.
  • Open it.

With this, your issue should be resolved and you can now try reloading the game.

Alternatively, you might need to downgrade your driver if it was updated recently and your game started crashing then. For this, follow the same steps as above, only this time click on Properties > Roll Back Driver and click on it.

Background processes

Among the easier fixes, open your task manager and simply close all of the unnecessary programs that are running in the background. If you don’t know which ones to close we highly recommend avoiding this step as you may close vital necessities for your PC or laptop.

We will cover this topic in another article.

Windows Firewall

Another reason why your game might be crashing is due to your firewall settings. To fix this, you need to add Apex Legends to the exceptions list in your Windows Firewall menu. To do this go to Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Defender Firewall\Allowed Apps.

Once you’re there, make sure to add and tick both boxes for the EA app’s Launcher programs.

If you’re playing Apex Legends on either PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, follow these steps to make sure your game is running smoothly:

  • Install the latest software update.
  • Perform a power cycle
    • Press the power button on the front of the PS4/5 for seven seconds (until the system beeps twice).
    • Turn it back on after one minute.
    • Launch the game.
  • Unplug any devices from the USB port.
  • Reinstall the game.

Xbox Fix

For the Xbox series, the fixes are mostly the same as for the PlayStation.

  • Install the latest software update.
  • Perform a power cycle (see above).
  • Unplug any devices from the USB port.
  • Reinstall the game.
  • Clear the MAC address – Settings > All Settings > Network > Network Settings >Advanced Settings > Alternate MAC Address > Clear – restart your Xbox.

Following these fixes for either PC or console should fix your game. Let us know if we resolved your issue!
