Wartales features a total of six basic classes, with each class having its own set of specializations. These classes apply to your companions so you can have a party that’s made of different classes taking on different roles.
At the same time, the game also features a handful of professions. These are basically jobs that will allow your companions to perform various actions outside of their classes.
These professions also grant various bonuses, and it’s for that reason that you want to pick the right profession for your companions depending on their class.
In this guide, we’ll look at which jobs suit which class the best. Let’s get started.
Best Jobs for Each Class in Wartales
As mentioned, each job provides a bonus to a unit in the form of stats. Moreover, the bonus stats that a job provides will increase the higher its rank is.
For example, a novice Miner will grant +2 to Constitution. However, once it reaches Apprentice rank, the bonus becomes +2 to Constitution and +1 to Strength. The same applies for all jobs in the game.
To maximize these bonuses, you want to assign certain jobs to your companions with certain classes. Let’s get started.
Alchemist
First off, we have the alchemist who specializes in making a wide range of concoctions. These concoctions come in the form of potions, oils, flasks, and a whole lot more.
While the alchemist profession isn’t really all that useful early game (you’re limited to just basic medicines and potions), it can be really powerful in the mid to end game.
That said, this profession provides a bonus to Dexterity across all ranks, making it perfect for either an Archer or a Ranger.
Angler
Next is the angler which allows you to catch fish in the game. However, as it stands right now, this activity isn’t really all that useful.
You’re only limited to 3 fish for each fishing hook, assuming that they’re all successful catches. Moreover, its stats bonuses which are Willpower and Critical Hit aren’t really all that impressive.
Honestly, you’re better off skipping this one as it’s by far the worse profession in the current state of the game.
Blacksmith
The blacksmith is possibly one of the most useful professions in Wartales. As expected, this profession allows your unit to craft weapons, armor, and even some accessories.
What makes the blacksmith interesting is that the weapons you can craft are somewhat unique since you won’t be able to find your enemies using such weapons.
Since the blacksmith provides bonuses to Strength at all ranks, this makes it the perfect job for classes that are capable of dealing AOE damage like the Brute and Warrior.
Cook
With the cook, you can create various types of food for your party that provides various bonuses at the same time.
As you rank up the profession, you’ll be able to unlock recipes that will let you cook even more complicated food that provides much better bonuses.
That said, the cook profession grants bonuses to Constitution which is beneficial for just about anybody. However, we recommend assigning it to your tank to make them even more durable.
Miner
Miners let you gather resources inside mines, especially iron ores as well as precious stones.
This is by far the most profitable profession as you can just sell the resources you mine for a hefty amount of gold.
That said, the miner grants bonuses to both Constitution and Strength. This makes it a perfect match for any class that stays on the front lines.
Scholar
The scholar allows units to solve puzzles that you can find inside ruins, tombs, and dungeons. Similar to the angler, the scholar profession grants bonuses to Willpower which isn’t really all that useful.
That said, the scholar can be useful when going inside tombs and ruins but is pretty much useless outside of those.
Thief
The thief profession specializes in stealing items and lockpicking. This makes it perfect for opening locked chests that you come across during your adventure.
Since the thief grants bonuses to Dexterity and critical hit, it makes a perfect match for either the Archer or Ranger.
Tinkerer
The last one we have is the tinkerer which can craft a wide variety of items via the workshop.
A lot of these craftable items are quite useful for your adventure, and some are even required to progress.
Since the tinkerer grants bonuses to Critical Hit, it’s perfect for classes that can dish out tons of damage such as the Archer, Ranger, as well as Berserker.
